Nice staff, but super run-down room.

The front desk staff in the fancy hotel across the street was very friendly and kind. Mainly, the hotel room itself was pretty terrible. The beds were something smaller than a queen, so my partner and I had to sleep in separate beds. The room was in desperate need of general maintenance- marks, dents and paint-chipped walls, stained carpet. When I lifted the bath towel off the hanging rod, the entire fixture fell off onto the floor (thankfully, it didn't land on my toes). There were dead bugs on the vanity counter. No phone in the room, so if you have a question, you have to walk outside and across the street to ask the front desk. TV remote buttons broken. The cark park is right outside the door, so it was rather noisy with people in and out of cars all night. On the plus, there was a refrig in the room, that was nice. Would be a nice little place if they would just tidy it up and do some maintenance.

Needs works

Run down ripped carpet stairs. Didn't see an employee the entire time, the toilet didn't work well, the TV only got one station, the internet only worked sometimes. Cans of full cigarette butts out side my room on the balcony. Zero paintings or pictures on the walls in the room.

very clean, is very very good when you relate to price, is a great location in whitefish, right in front to the snowbus stop and walking distance to many intersting places. the only bad thing was that the wifi suuuucks, very bad

The room has no coffee amenities, no furniture to speak of a patio table inside, and room was not cleaned on a two night stay. It’s very old and outdated.

Communication with the hotel is very difficult. The number listed doesn’t work. No where does it say that you need to call Firebrand ( across the street) for communication. It was so cold our foot froze and we were locked in our room, had to crawl out window to get out. Maintenance man was helpful and finally got door open. The next room they moved us to had door issues as well, third room worked. When we contacted hotel about requesting one night refund we never heard back from them. Expedia contacted them and said the refunded us, but never heard from hotel. Great location, but wouldn’t stay there again.

On the 2nd night of a 4 night stay, I called to ask for room services the next day while we were out skiing since it hadnt been done the day before. They did come, but only emptied garbage and left clean towels. It was never serviced again. This property is owned by the hotel next door, a fancy one. We had to check in over at the other hotel and phone that desk if we needed anything. It was obvious that our stay was unimportant to them. The restaurant that shares a wall with the Downtowner plays incredibly loud music often during the day hours and most especially at night while they're doing their closing clean up. It was annoying. We did not have access to a hot tub (which was an advertised amenity) nor a microwave in our room. I did like the comfortable bed and pillows, and the towels were of high quality.

Good: Location is near the center of everything, plenty of parking, room was clean, bed was comfortable water pressure was really good. Bad: Hotel is pretty dated but you get what you pay for. Minor inconvenience, but if you check in later in the evening, you have to walk across the street to the nicer hotel to get the key.

I love the location of this property however now you check in at the property across the street and the room that I was staying in this time was definitely quite a few steps below their normal standard. I think this hotel is on its last legs but once again the location is amazing.

The staff is amazing at this property. Totally awesome. They solve problems and make you feel welcome. Best staff in Montana and actually as good as a Four Seasons, St. Regis or Mandarin Oriental property
