Delight in Leuven

A superb hotel, the building is an architectural gem whilst the standard of the interior decoration and room facilities is of a very high quality. The hotel is a real gem situated in the heart of the Old Town of Leuven.

Even though it’s hard to get to because it’s in a no car area, the hotel is beautiful and stylish. It’s next to the ornate city hall and many cafes and shops. We had to park our rental car in a parking garage about five minutes walk away. Price was reasonable for such a nice hotel.

The switches are sophisticated but not all of them work. The bathroom is nice design but it would be practical if there is something to hang your towel and cloth. A choice out of 2 types of pillows (a bit softer and firm)would give more sleeping comport.

Lovely hotel, with a great period facade and a modern interior! Reception staff were helpful, breakfast options were adequate, and the city center location next to the city hall and main church can't be beat! The hotel is about 10-12 minutes safe walking distance from the main Leuven station. Taxi's are available, no private cars are allowed. Rooms are well appointed, with coffee/tea and water. Bathroom was functional. Lighting switches are extremely modern and a little hard to operate at night. The bed was comfortable. There are a vast number of dining options all around, from fast food (including Burger King, KFC & McDonalds) to fine dining (ate two meals at Het Moorinneken, excellent!) and international options within 1 to 3 minutes walk. Prices were great. Highly recommended over the standard chains near the station!

The client service was a nightmare all the way through. It took me 5 phone calls to book the rooms and then I never received the booking confirmation by email despite following up numerous times. After arriving my friends had to wait 3 days for the housekeeping to make the extra bed in the suite for their child to sleep on. The staff was not at all helpful. I would definitely never stay here again.

Efficient receptionists, friendly.The room had a fancy lighting system, with all sorts of tiny black buttons on a black background...visible only with lights on. The heating did not work so I had to go to reception when we wanted it more or less warm. Toilet ameneties etc were scarce, and not replaced when used.one night I returned at 03h and the door was wide open, nobody at the desk (I mentioned this the next day). Carpets in the hall a bit rundown.WIFi was touch and go. Room was spacious, but no door for the toilet so was difficult when a friend visited us.Coat rack would have been helpful.What really was excellent was the coffee machine!(But with wooden sticks however...).

Catastrophe

Honestly speaking we are shocked by what we had to experience during our stay. We have payed a lot of money looking forward to a pleasant weekend in the hotel with our little daughter. But already on arrival we came into a room which wasn’t cleaned properly and was prepared poorly. We spoke to the personnel at the reception and were informed that there is no manager on duty and that the hotel is being sold with a lot of problems that are carried out on the back of the guests. The breakfast was a catastrophe on all mornings. There was not enough personnel to even do the most necessary things like filling up the milk bottles or putting spoons on the buffet and refilling the coffee machine. The worst thing about this is that it happened independently of the number of guests present. On the second day we came back to our room only to find out that it wasn’t cleaned. In a hotel we expect our room to be cleaned though especially when you travel with a small child and we have experienced that in a lot of hotels before. Back at the reception we got the information that this is NORMAL (?!). In your hotel the rooms only get cleaned at departure. Not only did we get no information on that before but also this is not acceptable for us. We pay money in a hotel to experience great service and enjoy a worry-free stay. We don’t pay money for what we have had to experience at this hotel. Please come back to us with a response and also some suggestion for a compensation.
