We liked the pool, cleanliness, size of the room and bathroom, view especially the sunset. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast very good We didn't like the small TV, no air conditioning, no insect screens (we feel they should have 1 or the other as it was very hot in the room for sleeping) bugs came inside when we had the windows open. Walls are too thin, we could hear the person snoring next door, kept us awake. The step from the room to our deck is very high and unexpected, perhaps a sign telling people to watch their step? or even fix it would be good. It is also the same elsewhere on the property but we can't remember where. They are a little dangerous.

Pleasant stay

A little off the beaten track but very nice room. Pool very nice but too cold. Breakfast okay. Ate at only restaurant/take away in town - was reasonable standard.

West meets beach

Casual luxury with a bit of the old west, mixed with beach theme. Lovely place...Lorna was wonderful host. Breakfast area very nice; you won’t leave hungry. Pool heated only by sun, so good for a quick dip if hot. Nice, quiet walk to the beach.

The accommodation is quite a way from any large conurbation. It does have a pool - which is not heated, and also didn’t have any depth signs. Pool towels were provided and I did take the opportunity for a quick dip. The rooms are quite spacious but there is no air conditioning and so we found it quite hot. We did leave the doors to the balcony open to try and let it cool down but were a bit worried we might end up with bugs in the room. We were provided with a small jug of milk and there was a small kitchenette in the room, along with a bottle of water in the fridge. The shower gel was in a small bottle and was half used. The WiFi was also quite slow and intermittent. We were unfortunate in that we didn’t get the sunset we had hoped for. The hosts did recommend Sharkys for the only local eatery and we were impressed with the value for money of this.

Clean and Quiet

his was just an overight quick stay on our arrival to NZ and heading towards the north . Spacious room for 3, nice breakfast ,usual mixture of NZ culture offering english marmite with toast and mangoe and kiwi for fruit, wheaties and mamuka honey. Fridge and microwave. Balcony wih a view

Everything about this places is spot on! Close to beach, great view of ocean with a country outlook , very quiet and restaurant within walking distance. Private rooms with balcony. Very clean and very tidy with a great breakfast.

Our booking was for 3 adults but the third bed had to be added after we booked in. The room was exceedingly hot and a fan was provided.

Sunset View was a great place to stay on holiday in the Baylys Beach area. Our host, Loren, was so helpful and attentive to our needs. The lodge has a beautiful view of the ocean and is convenient to the beach and nearby area. The room was clean and comfortable, fully meeting our needs.
