So accommodating prior to check in and all the way through our stay. Cute pool area with great margaritas, amazing rooftop with views and espresso martinis. The concierge Adrienne is so lovely and does everything she can to elevate the experience and stay

Location and staff were amazing . Messaged Adrienne Miley (Chief Concierge) ahead of time as I was proposing to my girlfriend that evening and she had champagne waiting for us in the room and set up reservations at a nearby restaurant. Very memorable stay !

It was a wonderful getaway with my girlfriend. We had a very relaxing and fun time. Ate lunch by the pool. Was able to walk to the restaurant we had reservations at. All and all, a great trip.

Great location

This hotel is in an amazing location. Love the Art Deco style, although some of the interior room finishes are a little tired. They are in the process of renovating some rooms. Great rooftop bar for sunset. Very helpful concierge.

The hotel is dated, they were understaffed and that affected the quality of the service. The room we stayed at had appliances that did not work properly, like the water dispenser of the fridge.

Roof over our head but not much more. We admittedly thought it was the same Toronto/Vancouver chain but were mistaken as were other guest reviewers. An old, crappy building. Awkward room layout. Sheets had coffee stains on them and god knows what else. We checked in late so had no option to find another place.

Nice bathroom accessories and the water was appreciated. Sadly the hotel was under construction. The pool deck was being sanded so there was dust everywhere and very loud starting at 7am. The lobby was being painted and covered in plastic. Seating area was unusable. Should not have been open during remodel and made my short 2 night stay very unpleasant.

Not worth it

Not worth it. The scam of a $25 fee per night when you check in to use the amenities advertised is a bad joke. Even worse, that fee is not listed on the terms when booked. There is no sound insulation. Doors slam constantly. The vanity mirror was scratched up and the lights didn't work. We booked it to have a nice room near the beach, but we wished we had picked somewhere else.

Hotel was clean but older. At the end of my stay I received my checkout with what they were returning to me from the credit card hold. Or so I was told when in fact that was the amount they were keeping. Nonitemized receipt for what they “billed” me for. Nothing was put on my room except parking which is $50/night. Read the small print on the parking sign at the very bottom it’s $50.00/night not $30.00 like it says really big on the top. So I was lied to at check out so I wouldn’t question the bill.

The staff is AWFUL! They did nothing but harass us while at the pool. They wouldn’t even let us have our water bottles on our table. Very miserable people. The restaurant’s food was not good. They didn’t bring one of our meals out and charged us for it anyway, when we told the server, he said there was nothing he could do because his manager wasn’t there and to call them later to fix it. 4 calls and 3 emails to this hotel later, never did anything about it or gave us our money back for the meal we didn’t eat.

This is an older property and while the exterior and overall facility needs a faceluft, the rooms were excellent, modern and in the Art Deco Style. The location is great for exploring the Santa Monica downtown and pier, as well as the general arwa for day trips. Many restaurant choices close by. In terms of price, everything at the facility is way overpriced and there are added fees not made clear in the Reservation details. Parking is extra at $50 a day and a $25 resort fee was added to basically use the pool area (which was nice, but no more so than other hotels nearby). Food and drinks were outrageously expensive; nearly twice the price as other nearby resraurants, so we avoided purchases there. The main restaurant in the lobby appeared to be closed, but you could order food poolside or at the rooftop. The menu was limited because of kitchen equipment issues. The rooftop bar/restaurant has nice views. We had a pleasant stay, but overall, you can find better values in the area, with the same access to Santa Monica. We chose this place because we like Art Deco and staying at historic places, but found it not to be of sufficuent value for the stay.

Never Again - Very bad experience - Décommandé

We booked a family suite for 4 days in August 22. The hotel does not belong to Shangri-La chain. The furniture is old, not properly maintained and dangerous. It does not worth the price. I strongly do not recommend this hotel. --------------------------------------------------------------- Nous sommes restés 4 jours dans une suite familiale. Malgré son nom, l'hôtel ne fait pas partie de la chaîne Shangri-La. Le mobilier est vétuste, mal entretenu et dangereux. Inadmissible pour ce niveau de prix. Nous recommandons de ne surtout pas séjourner dans cet hôtel.

Unangemessene Zimmerausstattung für den Preis. Ausziehbares Sofa war extrem unbequem. Achtung Familien mit Kinder: Samstags Poolparty. Kinder dürfen nicht mehr an en Pool. Pool dann Ab 21! Party im gesamten Hotel. Dafür haben wir nicht bezahlt ! Im Zimmer konnte man sich den ganzen Tag so auch nicht ausruhen. Das war sehr ärgerlich !

Emplacement unique à Santa Monica au bord de mer. Personnel trés attentif même si hotel un peu daté. Trés grande chambre avec terrasse et vue sur mer. Cuisine dans la chambre (ce que les américains appellent une suite)
