"We stayed 3 nights in mid April. First, do not let the rainy season deter you. The rains did come in the late afternoons and the trekking was a little muddy, but I think it is likely the best time to gorilla trek and/or look for the golden monkeys. "Loved the gardens, the trees & flowers, birds and animals. Staff was friendly. A nice natural sanctuary, surprising to find in Lubumbashi. A bit out of the way. Mostly quietly except Sunday afternoon and late into the night there was loud music from nearby events or nightclubs. But will stay there again. "

"Maybe the best hotel in town, but more by lack of serious competition. Rooms are good and very clean, view on Congo river is very nice. High end rooms offer no additional superficy nor comfort, just access to a very poor lounge, so absolutely not worth the additional charge. Pool, parking and restaurants are of the expected level. BUT: prices for drinks and meals are outrageous. 7USD for a small bottle of water, 5 USD for an expresso, 50 USD for breakfast, 90USD for a bottle of poor Chablis wine...

"The Serena Hotel in Lake Kivu was lovely. We had a great room with a lake view. Since we traveled with a guide we did not use any of the extra guest services but we did take a boat ride out to the Nyamyumbo hot springs which was quite an experience. The opposite of a hotel spa! Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel!"

"An ok value but with a lot more hotels opening in Kin will have to up its game for this price range. All around great service especially Hyppolite at the restaurant. Lovely inner courtyard solid breakfast options and nice menu with very good indian food. Gym was a mess though, dirty with broken equipment. Huge room with good amenities. A good choice if you need to be centrally located."

"Very good people, free breakfast with a variety of foods, parking is very tight, clean rooms including bathroom, wifi accessible despite a weak connection, diner is very expensive. They loaded some drinks in my room and I thought it was free, but after I checked out they told me to pay for those drinks. But it was fine"

"Exceedingly lovely staff. So many nice surprises like burning fireplaces in the rooms with hot water bottles in the beds, foot rubs and shoe cleanings after our hike. Mattresses were amazing. Food was quite good, the included breakfast is expansive. Very beautiful grounds. Live dancing one night. Lovely dog Sparky. A few words of caution: most of our showers did not have hot water.
