"The Rufugio del Mar was a beautiful property. We stayed in building 2 which only had 7 units. They all had their own kitchen and bedroom/s. The staff were super friendly and the pool and gardens were immaculate. I would recommend staying on the second floor if possible as the lower units can be a little dark and do absorb a bit of noise from the above units. "The hotel is beautiful with great views. The food is delicious. Service it’s incredible, all the staff is very friendly. We were worried about the food since we kept hearing that the food was overpriced and not so good but we had the opposite experience. We loved everything we tried and the price was worth it. The view from the upper pool is amazing, specially during sunset… Highly recommend the spa. Everything was great. Hope to be back soon. "

"To review this property, you must rate the check in/out process differently from the condo/building itself. The check in/out process is super inconvenient. I would give it a 2/10. You must get your keys from another hotel that is eight blocks away (0.4 miles). This is not a “short walk” as it is stated. Dragging your luggage through the streets is not ideal. "Enjoyed a lovely view overloking the pool and Banderas Bay. Hotel went above and got me a mini-fridge for my meds. Taxi to Malecon or Rio Cuale 100 - 125 pesos. Only con, were the low toilets, which for a person with bad knees and back, resulted in much pain. Otherwise, there were elevators and ramps for those who need wheelchairs. No pool or beach access for those in a wheelchair. Lovely place."
