Beautiful historic B&B

The Bissell House was owned at one time by the inventor of the Bissell hand sweeper. It is managed by a family of adults. Everything about it is elegant. The breakfasts are superb.

MUST STAY!!

It was my first B&B and it sold me on never doing a hotel again! Awesome people run this house and it was just amazing! I got a free upgrade to a King and the room was clean and lovely, bed was super comfy!! If I didn't live closer, I would rebook! I ever do another 3 day conference you can bet I am staying here! Thank you again for all the amazing service! Just don't drive a large truck or you will have to park on the street. :) -Sam RN

What a great, quaint, getaway, so peaceful, and yet near the city. Wonderful. Great breakfast too! Beautiful home!

A Hidden Gem in South Pasadena

We just had a quick overnight stay. The house was surprisingly quiet for such an "old" house, the beds were comfy and the bathroom was adequate. Breakfast was delicious and our host was friendly, informative and welcoming. We would definitely stay there again.

Quaint & Charming Victorian

We stayed here because my husband had a holiday dinner, an easy walk a few short blocks away. It is a lovely neighborhood. We had been here once before several years ago. We were very lucky and got an upgrade to a "grand suite." The service is great, all the little touches delightful, (especially being the Holidays) and Jules made a great breakfast! She is very hospitable. When you factor in that parking and internet are FREE and you get breakfast, it's a good deal. My only complaint was the bed was a bit saggy in the middle, and when you are used to a King size bed, a Queen is all the more intimate and noticeable.

Bissell house Port in a Storm

Needed a place to stay for a night during home construction, and Bissell House was so personal and nice compared to going to a sterile hotel. The breakfast alone was so delicious it was worth 3/4 of the value!

Not very cordial when greeted. My wife had to let in guests and show them around the house because the owner nor anyone else was around.

Convenient to freeway, old Pasadena & restaurants

The owners were charming and the hotel a complete Victorian experience. Great attention to details; it is modern you are looking for this will not work. The hotel is authentic, cozy and so much character. A beautiful veranda surrounds the house, perfect for an early morning cup of tea or an early evening glass of wine. the owners set up afternoon tea/coffee and cakes (help yourselves) . There is a little library with comfortable chairs and quite a selection of books, a beautiful living room to sit by the fire, meet friends for a chat, fresh flowers and garden views. Breakfast was freshly made and tasty and we met some wonderful and interesting people

Charming Victorian B&B

We love staying at Victorian B&Bs! This is a favorite, close to home getaway! When we don't have much time for travel, we know we'll enjoy the beautiful grounds, porch seats, parlor, afternoon desserts, charming room and delicious breakfasts! As we stepped through the front door, Julie greeted us and checked us in...suggesting a yummy bbq restaurant a couple blocks away. What a fun mini-vacation and visit with other like minded guests!!!

Pasadena Romantic Birthday Getaway

Pasadena is a world class destination just two hours away from our home. My husband surprised me with a stay at The Bissell House for my birthday. The house, the Rose Room and amenities were all very special. Breakfast was delicious served in the sun filled dining room. We relaxed in the library and in front of the fire. We'll return again to enjoy the staff's warm welcome and hospitality.

Just lovely and relaxing-

Great, delicious breakfast- served pleasantly with style-we had a n on-line special deal thus we were given a small room and since a lll rooms were not booked, wondered why the owner didn't extend the courtesy of offering us a larger room - even though our room was small it was very comfortable - had we stayed more than one night it would have been too tight for my husband. Otherwise we would absolutely recommend and stay again. Lovely relaxing living room, and porch.

Bissell House

Our stay was great, bottom line. Negatives were... Walls are a bit thin and Christmas decorations were still up in the middle of January. Other than these minor critiques, our experience was nothing less then romantic, fun, educational, convenient and a great escape into a previous life.

wonderful place to stay

We have stayed at the Bissell more than half a dozen times and always have a wonderful time. The warmth of the innkeepers, the wonderful food, the amazing beds, and the amazing history of the house keep us coming back. It allows us to be centrally located to all the attractions in Pasadena!

I am not a huge lover of bed and breakfasts as I like plush accommodations but decided that it would be fun during the Christmas holidays to stay in a home. It was decorated for Christmas which was a nice touch. The owners were very nice and the breakfast was great. We arrived after dark and left directly after breakfast so we did not take advantage of the garden or the pool. It is a historic home and probably would be a great adventure to most. The bed was comfortable. It was just a little too cluttered and cutsy for my taste.

Our first B&B stay

My wife and I enjoyed a quick one night getaway. It was our first stay at a B&B and we look forward to our next stay.

Nice couples getaway

Great B&B with helpful staff. Nice homey feel and delicious breakfast. It's a historical home so expect some antique fixtures (I.e. separate faucets for hot/cold water). There also is some road noise but none of these things bothered us. We had a great time!

The Bissell House is a place to retreat!

Loved everything about it. When I walked in the door...I literally said out loud to myself, "this place makes my heart smile".

Would stay again

House architecture and furnishings are charming. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is delicious. There are several rooms to relax in and the pool and area around it are also nice areas. We were disappointed that the WiFi was spotty and usually didn't work. We went to the public library where we had no trouble connecting to the internet. We'd definitely stay at The Bissell house again and would recommend it to others. It's in an area of other beautiful homes and has a relaxing atmosphere about it.
