The property was in an interesting part of the city with many great restaurants within a 10 minute walking distance.
We had a great stay here and would recommend to anyone who wants an affordable nice place to stay for a few days in Kyoto. Very reasonably priced, warm and welcoming atmosphere and a very friendly staff. Was quite clean as well.
The place was good and definitely economic. The room was small but that is not a problem as that is normal in Japan, and for that price it was totally worth it.
The only cons for me was the bed, much more basic than what it looks on the pictures and not very supportive.
Overall was still a good deal.
This was more of a nightmare than a hotel stay. A bare-boned hostel rather than hotel whose staff member’s attitude needs adjustment. At preliminary examination, the room was clean. But soon we found dust and strands of hair. Under the bed, plastic bags and used tissue paper were scattered. We had several concerns. First, the air-conditioning did not work. Apparently, if another room chooses to heat, we get the same despite choosing the cooling function. The toilet made extremely loud sounds all the time and took 20-30 seconds to flush even more loudly every single time. The bidet and showering functions of the toilet also did not work. When we told this to the staff, he laughed and said, well at least it stops flushing, as though we were telling him a joke. Honestly, his understanding of English seems lackluster which made it almost impossible to communicate though he pretended to comprehend. We also chose to do our laundry using their machines. 100 minutes and 500 yen in the dryer later, our clothes were as wet as before. The same staff member refused to believe this happened despite there being security cameras around that could prove it. He told us to dry our thick sweaters with a hairdryer and iron. When we asked for a refund, he only agreed to 100 yen and later 200 because he would not believe that we did dry the clothes for as long as we said. We ended up having to hike to the laundry store 5 minutes away at 9 degrees Celsius in wet clothes.
the price is unbeatable, because it pretty much a hostel but providing hotel room, so expect no house keeping everyday. The room i got is very clean, not like some negative review said.
The only thing i will complain about, which is the bed, the middle part of the edge on the bed was collapsing because people keep sitting on it, due to no chair in room, and it kind of affect me while sleeping. My room is 901, if team of OYO 666 read my review, please fix that bed.
I have to say that staying in this place was the worst experience I have ever had.
The room smells from urine, the sheets and blankets had stains that was really discussing.
After 2 nights in your guest house - (that in some places you advertise as an hotel....) I got a rash on my skin and decided to leave (after 2 nights out of 5) to another hotel in the same street.
I asked the guys in reception to give me a refund for the 3 days I didn't stay in the hotel, but I got very cold attitude.
The guy in the reception said there is no option for a refund, regardless the reasons.
I contact over email with the costumers service of 'hotels.com' and got the answer that they can't reach the hotel.
Simply a shame that your place is published as an hotel, and is not even reachable.
I am still waiting for a refund for the 3 nights I paid for and didn't stay in your place.
Hope you will be fair and refund me.
Super friendly staff, nice rooms. Friendly atmosphere, though a bit of a downside to not have WiFi in our rooms. As foreigners we have our phones on flight mode and only use WiFi. I see the positive effects of gathering the guests in the lobby for good atmosphere and making new friends, but makes it hard to plan your days as we need WiFi to plan everything from what trains to take, how to pronounce different phrases if someone don't speak English and so on.
But definitely worth a stay, it was a good place
Ça s'est super bien passé, bien accueilli, logement bien situé à quelques minutes d'une station, c'est un bon établissement rien de spécial mais ça fait le café :)
