If you wish to stay in a traditional ryokan and still get the option to be near dining and shopping, I would highly recommend this place to everyone! It’s very close to popular shopping centres, great local restaurants, and the subway/bus stations. The family who run the ryokan are amazing and are so attentive to my needs. This place truly did make my Kyoto trip so special! I will definitely be coming back next time :)
The property is a classic modest Ryokan, VERY unique and super cute. Everywhere you look at is spotless, organized and very clean. The area is great, you can walk anywhere, and transit is also a few blocks away.
This olace is great! The ladys who take care of this place are nice and friendly. We are very near from multiple restorant and shop. Its was really nice to live a japanese experience in the Ryokan. The ladys lrepare for us the traditilnal bath. Every evening we had a great tea. The place is spotless. Even thought we have to share toilet and shower its really convenient. We had good sleep. I recomand this palace to anybody who wants to try a Ryokan. For sure if I ever go back in Kyoto i would go back there. Also it really quiet!! Great place that I warmly recomand
I loved it, and I can't wait to go back someday. The location is very good, very close proximity to train lines and a lot of bus routes, which can get you to any of the major Kyoto attractions. Very close proximity to an abundance of places to eat and drink. Lots of shopping close by.
The host was amazing. Very welcoming and kind, always there to greet you and say goodbye. Greeted with very nice and cosy green tea.
The whole place feels very quaint and "traditional". Honestly, it felt like I was visiting grandma as a kid, which is a good feeling. Facilities are shared but kept clean and maintained.
The rooms are spacious enough and modestly equipped. The futons used were very comfy and very warm. Other parts of the accomodation could be a little cooler but nothing was really that bad.
I really love the authentic feel of the traditional style ryokan. The stairs are a little steep and narrow, but that is part of the charm of a 100+ year old inn. The owner is a very sweet and kind person and takes you a tea when you check into the room. The room was wonderful, with nice tatami mats and an authentic futon on the floor.
Stayed 2 nights. Stayed in a single room. Host is extremely friendly. Place is very clean.and quiet, in a quiet street inside a busy area, but extremely safe. Close to shopping area. Lots of food option around. Will stay again for sure.
I liked it traditionally, the ladies were very hospitable. They even chased me down after i checked out and left a phone cord!! That was so kind of them! I did not use any facilities but a bed, but it all appeared well-maintained.
Thin walls, though that comes with tradition...
Super helpful staff and kept the place extremely clean

Além disso a localização é perfeita.
Large private room. Gracious owners who were very helpful.

Best location for night life and shopping. Within minutes walking distance to trains. Restaurants stay open pretty late and it’s safe to walk around. Staff extremely polite and friendly. I enjoyed the space and privacy of my room. Comes with kimono robe for wearing around inside. Staff filled up hot water and provided green tea daily. Linen and towels extremely clean! Have to share toilets and shower room, but overall, highly recommended for convenience. Old traditional style home, feeling like you have a host family inside to relate questions to. Information flyers and maps available in common area. Free cold water and paper cups too. Hair dryer available. They lock front door entrance to hotel by 11:00 PM daily. Check out by 10:00 AM. . Totally satisfied with my stay!
The women who run the place are always very cheerful and nice.
It was a good experience staying here rather than a hotel :) if you have mobility issues please make sure you let them know as the stairs to second floor is quite steep.
This was a fantastic stay that really made our visit to Kyoto special. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. The ambiance of the traditional Japanese style rooms made for a wonderful, memorable vacation. It is also nestled in a great location near Gion and the commercial shopping district. Highly recommend the Ryokan Nakajimaya.
Excellent location, the host Mrs. Nakajima was very kind and helpful and she would provide hot water and green tea every night, I particularly liked the traditional Japanese bath at the ryokan
I usually dont write reviews but this place is amazing and well worth the time. Literally from first walking in, the owner and her daughter were both so warm and welcoming. The ryokan offers that traditional Japanese feel that adds to the Kyoto experience in the best way. It is a large room with comfortable futons and a great location close to restaurants and train stations. I really cant say enough good things about this place, definitely the best place we stayed our entire trip. Thank you again to the owner and daughter for such a wonderful and welcoming experience.
