My stay at Carta Hotel in Kyoto was exceptional. The room was clean, the staff amazing, the breakfast great and the service beyond expectations. I will certainly stay here again next time.
Simple, straightforward accommodations in a perfect location for exploring Kyoto Gion area. Our family of four used two rooms and were very comfortable for our 2-night stay. I wish we had booked longer.
Spotless facility in a perfect location. Next to a bus stop and the subway entrance is very close. The front desk staff are very helpful. Great places to eat all around. Very easy to walk to some of the major sites. Highly recommend.
Near river and can easily cross over to Gion. Bus stop just outside hotel which one can take a bus to the main shopping area and other places of interest. Lots of food choices along the river Kamo.
Property is clean, and staff accommodating.
We only stayed for one night but definitely recommend it and would stay here again. Great location and staff. Room was small but convenient and comfortable. We had a great goodnight sleep. Bathroom is super small but again, very convenient. Super clean
Got a corner room with lots of natural light and a good view

Was in a good area. Laundromat and 711 across the road. Walking distance from lots of restaurants and nishiki markets.
No luggage hotel transfer which made it dofficult for us.
Room needs some colour. So white.
Cheap stay and good enough for a few nights.
We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. The room and bed were clean and comfortable; the price was very reasonable, and the location of the hotel was conveniently located near a few bus stops and metro stations within walking distance. We mostly walked and took the bus to various shrines and temples during our stay. For those who are looking for a nice and comfortable place to stay while you are visiting Kyoto, you might want to check this place out.
I would not recommend this hotel at all for multiple reasons. The bed is hard and the pillow is like a thin brick (so uncomfortable). The street the hotel is on is loud, all day and night. The water pressure in the bathroom is poor. You had to change your own bin and towels, this takes away from the treat of staying in a hotel. You also had to request for your room to be clean rather than as standard service.
Great room and location, had everything we needed.
We stayed 8 nights in the room with the queen bed. It was exactly as described, spacious and with a great view of the city. There is free coffee and a table at the reception. The bus stop is close by and it is a great location overall. Checking in and out was easy, the staff is nice and helpful. There are black-out shades in the bedroom windows, but it doesn't get very dark, so I would recommend bringing an eye mask to sleep better.
The one staff member at the front desk was AMAZING! She was attentive and great! Everything else at this hotel was more of a self-service than an actual hotel. Maybe they should advertise themselves as such and charge a lot less than what they do for what they are. From dirty and stained mattress to non existent room service and WiFi to soap bottle not bouncing back? I mean how cheap can a hotel be to reject a change of soap bottle and say "all the bottles are like this, they just dont bounce back". Basically when you pump the soap, the pump stays down. Thats the bottom of the barrel for a hotel. Even motels have springs in the soap pumps.
Hotel carino. Consiglio
We had a few nights here. Location was excellent right near the bus stop and a short walk into the Gion shopping area. Lots of choices for eating nearby and great French cafe 2 mins away that was open early for really good coffees. The room itself was fine….small but clean as was the bathroom. The only negative were the hard pillows. They made sleeping difficult. The hotel should invest in soft comfortable pillows. Also the blinds in our room needed some attention as they were damaged. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. overall good value for money.
