Lovely building with helpful, friendly staff; rooms were clean and amenities were great. Location excellent as it was close to shopping and local attractions.
We enjoyed our stay. This hotel is in a great neighborhood close to Nishiki Market, lots of restaurants, self serve laundry and public transportation. The staff were extremely helpful and the ryokan experience is recommended.
This hotel has a great location and strikes a good balance between modern and traditional. I booked a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and futon for sleeping. The breakfast was very nice. We did a sake (nihonshu!) tasting with Brian which was very enjoyable. I did not do the private bath and feel like that might have helped the experience feel more authentic. Overall good hotel but probably not the most authentic ryokan experience.
Our first time in a ryokan was a learning experience. The room is empty except for a low round table, two “chair backs” on the floor and a small round stool. The futons are build-your-own beds on the floor. There a lamp, safe and small fridge. The bathroom has a shower.
Overall, the room was modest and a novelty. Try a ryokan once but it was a hard sleep for four nights.
Common areas are beautiful.
The property was lovely and the staff helpful. It felt a bit touristy to us but it’s in a nice central location, and just an easy and peaceful place to stay. The breakfast was healthy and nice, easy to order as well.
This place was more than amazing the staff !!!! Oh my I can’t say enough good about them they really made us feel at home and they are so helpful. It was the most amazing experience , if you go definitely take the bath they offer and breakfast !! Thanks guys we had a great stay
The staff was great! It was my first time visiting Kyoto and staying at a traditional ryokan and I very much enjoyed the experience. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again during my next trip to Kyoto.
We had a wonderful stay here. The traditional ryokan experience was unforgettable and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained, and the facilities were excellent. Overall an outstanding experience
This was our first time in a ryokan, and we really enjoyed it. We found the staff very helpful. Their English was excellent, which was helpful, since our Japanese is limited. We only ate one Japanese breakfast in the hotel, but it was tasty. It was a great location, convenient to many places of interest.
All the staff is friendly, the property is beautiful and the check-in/check-out process was quick and easy.

The room was very clean. The hotel was very nicely located. The amenities at the hotel were very accommodating. The staff was very polite and friendly. It's a very traditional looking hotel inside and I loved the decor. Breakfast was delicious and you have a choice between a traditional Japanese breakfast or American. Wuite delicious. A+++ I would definitely stay there again.
Best hotel my partner and I have ever stayed at. Staff were friendly and accomodating. The experience was priceless. We will definitely be returning. We were happy to find out there is a Tokyo location.
Very traditional inn, but loved that the bathrooms have been updated. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this establishment for anyone looking to stay at a more traditional inn in Kyoto.
We stayed only one night to have the experience of a traditional ryokan and we’re glad we did. The staff was very helpful. We had the traditional Japanese breakfast and it was delicious.
