Kyo no ...where is it? We followed the hotel.com gps google map directions that were way off target...fortunately...after door knocking for some time...some kind locals showed us where to go...an English sign on the property would have also assisted our compass.
Otherwise...the owner is a gentleman...a kind host...happy to help. Futons are paper thin...and an extra toilet might alleviate queues when ur busting first thing in the morning. Location is superb...near the railway station for all those zen trips about town. The owner hands out free prayer beads ...a nice note to leave on.
The place is difficult to find as it is on a narrow back street and there is no hotel name in english .
The Kyoto tourist information centre staff have never heard of it . After looking around the streets in the general vicinty i found a building which resembles the picture ( on the Wotiff website ) , but a different colour . An elderly gentleman helped me locate the right building and find the only staff member . After a quick tour of the facilities , he showed me my room and vanished . I never saw him or another staff member for the next 2 days . The room was ok but had a strange smell and the bed consisted of a thin futon type matress which you rolled out on the floor , a thin blanket , a quilt and a thin pillow . There is 1 shared toilet on the 2nd floor , a shared shower and bath on the ground floor . The hotel consist of 3 floors with 4 rooms on the 2nd floor and i guess 4 rooms on the 3rd floor . The hotel was reasonable clean .
