This hotel is fantastic! The rooms are spacious with a zen Japanese design. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. There’s free coffee, cappuccino, beer and wine in the lobby 24x7. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it!
We had a wonderful stay at this quiet and traditional feeling hotel. The included breakfast is lit! Front desk staff are very helpful. What are you waiting for? Just go already!
We stayed in the annex suite. Biggest room. Loved the traditional Japanese style room. We did have two bathrooms, which I wanted. Shared shower and sleeping area. Main issue was no drawers. Only two small closets. No place for underwear pants or socks. We had to keep everything in our suitcases. Hung a few shirts and skirts. If the hotel can read this please add drawers. You have room to add them.
Staff were wonderful! The hotel is showing a need for some general maintenance attention …interior painting, furniture refinishing, carpeting. Please check the plumbing and tile in room 422 bathroom, a strong odor of mildew.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. The whole hotel was very clean as well as the rooms. Breakfast buffet was amazing with choices for a Western or traditional Japanese breakfast. I would have given the hotel 5 stars except we wish they had more amenities like coffee maker in the room and more drawers and closet space for clothes.
Awesome, quiet spot to have a westernized version of a ryokan stay! It has all the amenities I would want at a hotel - open lounge, safe, in room fridge, etc.
The staff were lovely when we came in and helped us with all our questions.
We loved our room, peaceful and quiet. Very much a small home away from home.
It’s worth it to get the soaking tub rooms, it was an excellent experience
It’s a new and modern hotel in a very convenient location, not far from Kyoto station. You can walk to tourist attractions like Nishiki market or Gion District. The room is quite spacious and clean. The traditional wood bath tub is very nice. It also has a good rest area for hotel guest with water, coffee, juice and even sake. We made good use of this amenity after we check out. Coffee is excellent.
The hotel was in a very good location, 15mins (ish) walk to Kyoto station & around 5mins to the local train station. The bus stop is also close to the hotel with 7/11 and other local restaurants and cafe in walkable distance. The staff were super lovely and there is a lounge with free drinks to chill in before you go to your room.
Our room was nice and spacious and mixture of Western and Japanese theme so it’s relaxing to stay in as well.
Easy access from Kyoto station just go straight up along the Karasuma-dori street right next to Kyoto tower and just next to the Higashi-Honganji temple.
Subway station is also close.
We loved our stay at Hotel Kanra Kyoto. We first stayed here in 2014 and so this was our second visit. We were impressed in 2014, and we were even more impressed on our recent visit!
The hotel is beautiful. Very Zen-like and you feel like a VIP guest as soon as you walk in. Excellent customer service, excellent rooms, excellent everything!
We will definitely be back here on a future trip! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Hotel Kanra!
