We were part of the historic misery at Heathrow when UK flights were all cancelled. The Rest Up London was a fantastic lifesaver for us! Of particular note was the night manager who calmed us and cared for us. I will forever remember his kindness and hospitality. I will also remember the spotless facility, the clean linens and bathrooms, the excellent breakfast and the warm, congenial atmosphere of The Rest Up London.
While the staff was helpful, the property was not very well maintained and there were little to no amenities. The light in the bathroom was out, there was visible dirt in the rooms, the bathrooms smelled of mildew, and you have to pay five pound to rent a bath towel. Overall, not terrible for the price, but very minor adjustments could greatly improve the quality of the stay.
I got a last-minute booking to stay in a room as I was unable to find a cheaper hostel bed elsewhere and I was too tired to stay awake all night. On check-in it was pointed out that you have to be aged 40 or under to stay in rooms and I was told to remember next time - but I was in a private room and it's okay. The room was basic - just a bunkbed and no chair or table. The bathroom was clean, but the shower head needs changing. There is also not a plug in the sink. The bed was comfy as were the pillows and you get a lot of them. I would've slept really well, but the people in adjoining rooms were a nightmare. I passed some young guys who closed their door and the handle fell off! At 1 am there were men being loud and slamming doors and laughing (they didn't sound young). At 3am I was woken up by a group of men who didn't sound young, and were European (maybe Dutch or German) who were banging doors repeatedly, laughing and shouting. I had to sleep with ear plugs, which I don't like doing as a woman who has experienced burglaries and stalking. From about 8.30 am there was non-stop banging of doors - either the room next to me (U3) or the fire exit door. Someone was also banging the walls. At one point it sounded like someone was hurling themselves at the wall. This noise went on until I left just before 10am. I didn't report it cos I assume the person might have a mental health problem and I didn't want to offend anyone. I won't stay here again. And I can't recommend it.
The room and beddings were clean but the toilet wasn't clean enough
