I like this hotel. I have stayed in many around paddington. Its a bit worn on the edges but does the job. Shower always works, beds are comfy. Never had issues.

The hotel was centrally located and closed to subway, places to eat and shop. The room was small. The hotel was going through renovations. The lift was no working and our room was on the 4 th floor. Walking up and down several times a day was bit too much. They told us that the lift was out of service for over 2 weeks and no idea when it would get fixed.

The Ascot Hyde Park is wonderfully convenient to Paddington Station. The staff were very accommodating when we added our daughter and grandson to our room and let our other daughter and family drop off bags for awhile. The fact that the lift doesn't work made getting to the higher stories challenging, especially with luggage, and there’s no a/c to deal with a heat wave. Lots of restaurants around, and Hyde Park is a short walk. Recommend if you're in shape and the weather is mild.

Stayed in a neighbouring building from the main part of the hotel. Up a steep/ high flight of stairs. Room and bathroom was small, room was clean and bed was comfortable. Fixtures and fittings a little dated and worn. However, considering cost, a clean room and where the hotel is situated. Great value for money.

78 steps on a narrow staircase to the 3d floor room ( lift hasn't worked for 6 months, and Expedia did not have that info when I booked, even though the owner said he had mentioned it. Shower room was clean, looked as though it had recently been refurbished. Beds were clean and comfortable with clean linen. Tea and coffee facility available. No air conditioning, a fan was available, but very noisy...windows could be opened, but could see into room next door. General cleanliness was poor, carpets extremely stained and dirty, missing areas of laminate flooring in hallway. The only redeeming factor was the location. Would not stay again.

Rooms are organised a set of floors the stairs to which are extremely cumbersome especially if one has luggage and lift is not working. The rooms though neat - decor leaves a lot to be desired and sparse in terms amenities and water power in shower requires one to spend more than normal time.

Location is excellent - only a minute walk to Paddington station and lots of shops and restaurants nearby( try the Fountains Abbey pub upstairs). Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.
