Very walkable location. Staff were very helpful and kind. Room air-conditioning was really good and bed was comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.
The hotel in in a very good location accessible to every thing in the downtown area. The staff are very polite and really helpful. One the best stays in all of Japan.
Very comfortable and perfectly located hotel.
Super friendly staff. Some speak good English.
A short walk away from Sannomiya station and Chinatown and hundreds of restaurants are just around the corner.
Conveniently and strategically located near Chinatown and within walking distance to high-end shopping and major attractions. The hotel is older but well maintained and very clean. While the rooms are on the smaller side, they are functional and tidy. The reception team and staff are welcoming and professional, and the pricing is fair for the location and overall experience.
The hotel is central and right next door to Chinatown; minutes from a metro, JR line and buses: opposite a branch of the store Daimarou. A 10 minute walk to the City Museum too. The reception staff were efficient and friendly and went the extra mile to help out with problems. It was nice to have a spacious lounge area with complimentary tea coffee juice most of the day. Some people will miss the usual spacious bath tub but the shower room was super efficient.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and found the hotel to be clean, well maintained, and conveniently located. The guest laundry facilities were particularly useful during our trip.
We also appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks available in the lounge, and the wine vending machine was a memorable and enjoyable touch that we had not encountered elsewhere.
The rooms were comfortable but quite compact, particularly when travelling with larger suitcases. While this is not unusual in Japan, it did make moving around the room somewhat challenging.
I also appreciate the hotel’s transparency regarding the ongoing Wi-Fi issue and the efforts made to provide an alternative connection space in the 2nd floor lounge.
However, the lack of reliable in-room Wi-Fi had a significant impact on our stay. For a hotel of this size, internet access is now an essential service for most guests rather than simply a convenience. While technical issues can occur, the problem appeared to affect a substantial portion of the hotel and had apparently been ongoing for some time. It may be worthwhile reviewing the current network infrastructure, provider arrangements, or contingency options to better maintain guest connectivity in future.
Despite this issue, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning if the Wi-Fi situation is resolved.
Good hotel and convenient location, right next to Kobe Chinatown. Room was clean and spacious for Japanese standards. Friendly staff. Not a huge breakfast selection, standard I would say, but everything was delicious.
There's no second chance to make a first impression, so I'm surprised whenever some hotels choose by policy to make the worst possible impression. If I arrive shortly before the official check in time and I'm told "your room is ready, here's your key, enjoy the rest of your day", the hotel gains a customer for life. If I'm told "your room is ready, but you absolutely must wait 15 minutes in our lobby, where the A/C is broken, because our check in time is unyielding", then it really sours my entire stay, and I will pointedly avoid the brand in future.
It's hard to say exactly how much my opinion of the rest of the stay was coloured by this negative experience. Some hotels are better than others, and this was one of the "others" - quite small, quite old, fridge very weak, etc - but it's unlikely I would be writing this review if I hadn't been treated so miserably in the first instance.
Breakfast was fine, but didn't really stand out. I left an article of clothing in the room and the staff didn't steal it, so I can at least say that they cleared that bare minimum hurdle.
Perhaps it's because I arrived after a couple of weeks travelling in China, where such a negative experience didn't occur once, that I found this so shocking. Many hotel brands around the world have learned that enforcing these policies do rigidly, when guests' schedules differ, serves no purpose but to upset them and engender negative sentiments. I hope this hotel will learn, until then stay elsewhere.
