"Room was spotlessly clean. Would have preferred the sink in the shower room instead of in the bedroom! Really comfy bed and excellent soundproof. Had great sleep both nights. Wine was a bit pricey but never ate in restaurant. Used the gym and couldn't see cleaning materials for equipment. Would stay again."

"The hotel itself had a feel that it was just kinda tired. Carpet in main entrance and halls could stand a cleaning. The room was clean but pergo floors starting to peel and drapes in rooms while worked well and great at blacking out light, were also kinda dirty. The bathroom was clean, but as another has said in a review, seemed like it was a pod from a cruise ship. Only two good size bath towels and no hand towels or washcloths. Initially no bathmat either but after a cleaning one was left. When walllight beside bed broke they did send someone almost immediately to fix the switch. If you use a sleeping device, know to bring an extension cord as no outlets near bed. Hotel works if you are not planning on being in the room much because the location is near train station and fairly close to bus station and walkable to many sites. A functional place to stay with courteous and friendly helpful staff. Would not be my first choice to stay if were in the city again.but if it was all that was available, I would not hesitate to book it."

Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club

"The stay at Dalmahoy was brilliant. I upgrade my room to the period double in the house and wasn't disappointed. The staff were friendly and super helpful. I enquired about the cinema room use for showing the eurovision, and guest relations were happy to put it on for us. More to see in Edinburgh, so will be hopefully going back at some point to finish off, and to use the leisure facilities as we didn't use them."

Clayton Hotel Glasgow

"The Clayton has an excellent location within easy walking distance to Edinbourg's attractions, the Castle etc. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. As seems to be common in European hotels the room was small but still very comfortable. The bathroom while spotless and modern was very small and it was like a sauna after taking a shower which was quite uncomfortable. The hotel does not have any parking. It has a discount arrangement with a parking garage which was nice but the garage itself is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. So all in all luggage dropoff and parking is a hassle. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again"

Apex Grassmarket Hotel

"Grassmarket was lovely and has an amazing location but your experience is very dependent on which room you get and the time of year. We stayed for 2 different nights to cap off a 3 day tour to the highlands and each stay was wildly different. Our first night stay had us considering canceling and rebooking due to our concerns. Some important things to note is that this hotel has no AC, which is common in Europe, however if you happen to utilize the window and are near the interior patio you will have the smell of smoke come in any time someone uses the space for that. Not ideal to say the least. The other issues were with the bathroom and carpet in the room. Our bathroom had quite a few things broken when we arrived and the carpet in the room was rippled as if it had been extremely worn or water damaged. For the cost of a single night it seemed absurd. Our second stay was much better. The room had no issues, was cool due to 2 windows instead of 1, and not near the smokers paradise. Also nothing was broken upon arrival and checkin was much smoother."
