The house was everything i wanted but not so accesible to the train station, closer to the bus station but kinda hard to figure bus rides for me. I would stay here again esp if i was with a group, it makes tou really fell like youre in Kyoto, my favorite part is the ofuro, the bath on its own is so great and the jap garden.
Great stay, just make sure you get the instruction
Great place to stay, the house is big enough for a family. Only downside, it was difficult to get in. I never received the instructions via email, so I had to call. It was an inconvenience. The same thing happened to the family staying next to us.
Do NOT stay here. The WORST experience ever. The location of this place in Kyoto was great, and we didn’t mind the quiet rules, but the strictness felt excessive.
However, the real issues started with basic amenities. They provided only one roll of toilet paper for a family of five and insisted it was our fault for not reaching out sooner—essentially telling us to go buy our own. Which we ended buying. Detergent was also promised but not provided, so we had to purchase that as well.
The worst part was the check-in process. We had informed the host that we’d be arriving a little later and even double-checked if they needed anything from us—fees, details, or an entry code. They assured us that everything was set. But when we arrived, we were locked out in the cold because they required a fee before giving us the code—something they never mentioned earlier when our family reached out previously through Hotels.com. They ignored our calls for almost an hour before finally answering, only to demand payment before letting us in.
Overall, the lack of communication, missing supplies, and being left outside in the cold made this a frustrating stay. Would NOT recommend.
Was a great stay but need to be more clear on options for accommodation fee or be more flexible with it. Foreign guest can struggle with it for sure. But amazing stay will be back loved the feel and understanding
