Hayes Mansion, San Jose - Curio Collection by Hilton

"Hayes Mansion has seen better days. It is kind of expected being an old mansion that was renovated into a hotel. The grounds are well-kept as are the main rooms of the hotel. The breakfast is very good for the money and the waiters are very responsive. They appear to have regular conferences at the hotel although the parking is a little cramped and the setup can get In the way of other residents. Not obvious how to get help unloading the car. There appears to be one ramp for people (like me) with a scooter/wheelchair and (I think) one elevator per building. I had to climb stairs to get to the lobby initially. Rooms were good but housekeeping/maintenance standards could be improved. We had room changed -- first room lighting was dark. We had sheets changed due to dirtiness after sheets had just been changed that day -- housekeeper found set she brought was also dirty. Battery powered makeup mirror was dead in first room and quickly died in second room. One manager worked with us -- one didn't. Disappointing..."
