"This was a beautiful hotel. Lovely staff, nice entrance, room was stunning and the bed was huge! Was like a retreat at the end of the day. The breakfast options were great and a nice area to eat in. The hot foot bath in the courtyard was a winner for our tired feet at the end of the day. Would definitely stay here again."

"room fine bathroom a bit dated as is the rest of the hotel. overall good location right on lake all rooms have view of lake pool is free for resident but very over clorinated which gave us all bad rashes. so only used once which was a sham as reason we stayed there. station close and hotel has shuttle bus to station 3 times an hour which was good over all hotel ok probably not to my taste but very popular with locals we were only english there and a good place to stay away from hustle and bustle of kyoto but easy access as only two stops on train. stayed there 20 years ago and it hadn’t changed since then"

"Toyoko Hotels are usually great. They are clean, convenient, and affordable, and they tend to have lots of useful amenities or people who might have forgotten to bring something like a toothbrush or razor. This particular hotel has a really convenient location that's a short walk from several train stations and from a couple of very charming and pleasant shopping arcades. Miidera (三井寺) and Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) are also manageable walks. Otsu is a lovely and underrated city, and this hotel is in a really nice part of the city."
