What a diamond in the rough!…. What a hidden gem this place is. Onsen, was great, restaurant was spectacular, room was a delight….. We want to come back, to enjoy more of the area, one night was not enough to get to most out of this beautiful place…:)
The Onsen was peaceful with nice views. The rooms were spacious with nice views. The property is a little dated and we did have a slight issue with a stopped up sink. Hotel assisted quickly. Food was average and they had some issues with my dairy allergy meals
Beautiful property, amazing views of the lake both in the room and onsen, outstanding staff and meals. Right by the cable car and convenient hotel pick up and drop off at the train station. It was an amazing experience for the whole family!
Unfortunately due to weather Mt Fuji view wasn’t there from the room. There is an issue with mosquitoes in the room despite insect repellent and the room had a distinct moist smell. The outdoor onsen is good. There isn’t any rule observations for onsen though as I have witnessed foreigners with large uncovered multiple tattoos entering the onsen without showering or covering the tattoos. The Kaiseki dinner was ok, less than my last stay at a different ryokan. Considering the price it’s a little disappointing.
Truly phenomenal one-night stay in this gorgeous ryokan.
The beautiful and delicious kaiseki meal, comfortable yukata to wear around the property, and the incredible views of the lake and mountains from the room and outdoor onsen made this an unforgettable experience. Mt. Fuji was hidden behind some clouds during my stay, but even still, it was breathtaking beauty. Truly humbling.
My larger group (5) stayed in a more modest accommodation in Tokyo for two weeks and splurged a bit for this night in Hakone. Worth every effort. It was our vacation from vacation.
Thank you to all the hotel and service staff, especially Yuta-san and Miller-san for their exceptional meal service. Also highly recommend the local Hakone sake; best we'd ever had.
I hope to return for a slightly longer, smaller group experience as an anniversary gift someday. Please keep up the great work until then!
Our spacious, comfortable room had a stunning view over the lake with Mt Fuji in the background. The staff were very attentive, especially in the main ryoken restaurant where we ate breakfast and dinner. Food was traditional, delicious and they catered well for my partner’s vegetarian diet (we informed the property a few days ahead). The public onsen was good to access directly from the hotel and provided a beautiful view over the lake. Very quiet. Courtesy bus makes it easy to reach the main town. Would recommend and would stay again.
The staff were great from the get go, really welcoming and informative. The dining experience was so special with delicious foods (kudos to the chef). The onsens (2 inside, one outside) were wonderful. And the location was amazing—-a great view of Mt Fuji from our room!! Absolutely recommend.
This is an older and more traditional hotel. If you were interested in authentic Rohan Japanese experience, this is the exact hotel to go to. The view of Mount Fuji is unparalleled and the staff here are especially nice and helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful view and the room was simple but a traditional Japanese room sleeping on tatami mats. We did the half board and the dinner and breakfast were excellent and extremely fresh.
The property is very good for the authentic experience. A bit older but still modern (washrooms could be upgraded). It's really for the onsen experience and the food. A true spa resort! We went and it was early spring and rainy so less to do around the area.
