We're so glad we stayed here for our first Roykan experience. We booked a villa and had an indoor + outdoor private onsen to use when we needed. The staff were amazing, check in wad a breeze and all our meals were excellent.
Staff was excellent, food was amazing. The shuttle was very convenient. My room was very clean, traditional and quiet. I went in January and my room was warm and cozy.
Excellent staff, beautiful traditional inn, delicious meals, and relaxing personal onsen and rooms. Highly recommend to all. Would go back on a future trip.
This was one of my highlights of my Japan trip, the kaiseki dinner was delicious and the room had such a great view. The onsen was also very relaxing. Staff was very helpful and had transportation to Gora station so that we could continue on our Hakone Loop.
Very comfortable and spacious accommodations with traditional Japanese decor and a spa bathroom. It was a relaxing stay with welcoming staff. The onsen and meals make it worth choosing Mikawaya.
Clean authetic ryokan experience in a great location to do the hakone loop

Location was nice and isolated. Private onsen deck was nice and quiet. Our only close neighbours were the giant spiders and other small hakone residents
The facility and staff were wonderful. They have a public bath separated by men and women with all the amenities you would need, the baths aren’t big probably wouldn’t fit more than 3-4 people at a time. But due to many rooms having their own bath plus the private ones we can reserve it is never crowded. Only once did I see another guest using the bath when I went during my 2 night stay. The service was great, most staff spoke enough English communication was no problem. The room was roomy and had a wonderful view of the surrounding mountain area. The food was the only thing that I thought was mediocre, it was well presented but the food itself was pretty basic and the same every morning and night so if you’re staying for more than 2 nights be prepared to eat the same food for each meal. I was a solo traveler and during dinner they put me in a private stall it was nice to have a little area to myself. Overall a wonderful experience!

I stayed here for a night and it was an amazing experience! I had a room with a private outdoor open-air bath which runs 24/7. With the stay I also had dinner and breakfast. The staff were very courteous, spoke very good english, and even gave us a tour of their amenities & facilities. The dinner tasted great, however, it took extraordinarily long. What could've been a one hour kaiseki meal turned into two hours, with probably one hour of waiting most likely due to the large number of people they needed to serve. The breakfast was quick and easy though. Beyond this, the staff are very polite and I would definitely recommend and come back here again!
It was a relaxing area especially having your own villa. Wish i stayed longer to explore the area but def would have booked for 2 or more nights instead of 1. I did enjoy the peace n quite and the food served.
We got the room with the private onsen spa. We had just gotten engaged and the room and facilities were absolutely gorgeous and romantic. Everything was very clean and aesthetic, and the staff was very helpful. Would love to come stay again in the winter, or at least when the facade is finished!

This was my least favorite hotel of our stay in Japan. The property is under renovation, however, it still felt very dated and smelled a little off. Also, a very weird check in experience.
Both breakfast and dinner were great though!
We had a great stay at this hotel. It is right on a bus route with the stop right in front of the hotel. The included dinner and breakfast was also amazing, with traditional and western options for breakfast. Try the Hakone loop bus, boat, rope line (ie gondola) and cable car attraction when you’re staying.
Onsen was excellent and food is great. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and spoke English well. The massages offered are also a great find and great for couples. It was super convenient, as they come straight to your room. They offer taxi drop off to Odawara station so just ask.
Great staff and service! Everyone is very helpful and friendly. If you are looking to attention to detail this is the place to stay and relax on holidays.
