"Gorgeous lobby. Lovely setting. Good breakfast. Pleasant hosts. Until we got to the room. The room was tiny. Like, a little bigger than a walk-in closet kind of tiny. We needed to walk sideways to cross the room. The room was also very spartan with few frills to speak of. We were there for one night so it was all we needed."

"The description of the room we booked on their website did not match what we were given. We booked an excutive room but the room we were given only had two skylights and no view. The room was in a small narrow corridoor in the loft."

"We were a group of 8 men visiting on a golfing trip. It wax agreed that the quality of beer especially the Guinness was undrinkable. My drink also had to be returned I had also asked for 4 twin rooms but there was only 3 given and the other wad a double. Additionally there was only one bath towel in 2 of the rooms and no toilet brushes"

"Lovely resturant. Make dinner reservations ahead of time so you do not miss out. Make sure to get a room with a view!!! The view is stunning!"

"The property is situated near North Berwick and has beautiful gardens. The building itself is a bit tired. Our room was disappointing for the grade of hotel. Coffee facilities were basis (one packet of two pieces of shortbread to share!). The cooked breakfast was lovely but the continental selection was very poor compared to similar hotels and given that one of the main selling points of the hotel is the Chez Roux restaurant. Cleanliness not what we would have expected either - some litter...

"Both of the ladies (Shirley) and ( I forgot her name) at the front desk greeted us with a smile and genuinely very very helpful and made us feel like we were family. The breakfast was very good and hearty! The gents in the pro shop were first class and were very knowledgeable ! I hope to be back!"

"This was a stop over on the way to a holiday further north in Scotland. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are a little tired but perfectly functional. One of our rooms was to the front of the hotel opposite the local supermarket and cash point (the cashpoint is regularly used and weirdly noisy) - the supermarket opens early - if you are a light sleeper the noise will wake you up. Interestingly we booked 2 rooms at the same price and they differed...

"Though an old building, it is very well maintained. Very clean and the host (Alice) very friendly and helpful. it is beautifully placed and our room overlooked the Musselburgh Racecourse/ golfing green. Breakfast (though continental) was very nice and you were able to choose what you wanted and at what time and this was brought up to your room in a lovely basket. Our whole stay there was lovely and would definitely stay there again :)"

"A top traveller’s rest inn. Located in a quaint quiet village with some nice walks and scenery. Had a clean and spacious room with everything we needed for an overnight stay. Food and atmosphere in the adjoining pub was excellent as were all the staff there."

"Very clean and convenient. A little strange that I had to give my license plate number as they have a private park ing ticketing company given parking tickets out. I guess it's a way to make money off guest if they forget to punch in. Stayed in Hotels all over the world, but never seen this tourist trap before."
