"I picked the Penny Hotel for the apart-style feel, which I liked in theory. But when I arrived, there was an adoption event going on and the lobby is really small, so it was crowded and checkin took longer than expected. The room had a bit of a smell when I got in, not a huge deal, but noticeable. The hotel has a modern vibe, but it’s not for everyone. It was fine for a one night stay, but I don’t think it’s great value for money. The receptionists were really kind and helpful."

"I had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, they even extended my checkout time by an hour, which I really appreciated. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, though the bathroom felt a bit outdated. There wasn’t coffee in the room, but it was available in the lobby, which worked fine. "10/10 stay if you’re into the Brooklyn neighborhood scene. If you are expecting a lavish stay, this is not the place for you, however if you are looking to take public transportation or walk, this is a place for you, with grocery, corner stores, restaurants, entertainment, dispensaries, you name it, on the same block as Hotel 1080. Smoke-friendly designated spaces. Laron, was so helpful as well as the manager. Complimentary morning tea and coffee! Genuinely gave the real New York feel."

"We arrived late, and after having our room bookies for four months this hotel over sold our room and still tried to charge us for a room. At every step of the process they tried to scam us out of a hotel room. Eventually they booked us at a place down the road, but not without a fight. I do not recommend staying here, as you will be risking them overselling your room if you don’t arrive in time."
