Paris Travel Guide Video

With a deserved reputation as one of the world’s most cultural and romantic cities, it is easy to forget that Paris is also one of the busiest and most exciting.

As a destination, Paris really does have it all – from world class galleries and museums such as The Louvre and Musée d'Orsay to stunning modern architecture and globally renowned shopping.Home to well over two million people, Paris is a fantastic example of contemporary French style which is characterised by a unique mix of classic and modern influences. Divided into 20 districts spiralling clockwise from the centre of the city, Paris is also divided into left and right banks by the Seine. As you might expect, each of these districts are quite distinct, making it easy to experience various different sides to Parisian culture in even a relatively short visit.Renowned for its stunning landmarks, Paris is home to some of the world’s best known sights. Ranging from the simple medieval beauty of Notre Dame cathedral to the grand spectacles of Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, Paris is as picturesque as it is pleasant. One of the most popular districts of Paris for visitors is Montmatre – the artistic heart of the city and home to the Moulin Rouge. Climbing the district’s cobbled streets is a must, not only as a chance to visit the magnificent Basilique du Sacré Cœur but also to admire the stunning view across the city. In the far distance stand the skyscrapers of the La Defence business district – itself worth a visit to see La Grande Arche, an enormous modernist monument to France’s humanitarian ideals. You can gain access to all Paris’s best attractions without breaking the bank with the Paris Pass. The Paris Metro system is quick and inexpensive making it very simple to traverse the city, but many prefer simply to allow themselves to wander around the twisting streets and grand boulevards such as the Champs-Élysées. Particularly popular areas to visit include Le Marais with its intimate bars and beautiful architecture, as well as the upscale districts of St-Germain-de-Pres and St-Michel – Paris’ intellectual hub.It is often said that food and fashion are Paris’ two greatest love affairs, and it is easy to see why. Wherever you go, exceptional food and drink are never more than a moment away. From a quick café express and croissant at a pavement café to a silver service dinner with fine wines, the city heaves with choice and variety. Should shopping be more your thing, a stroll along the famous Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honouré is sure to delight – the perfect place to indulge your passions for the world’s most revered international fashion houses.

Took 2 weekends in Paris in summer 2019 - loved it! The hotel was fantastic. Eurostar from St Pancras was so easy. Cafes and restaurants in Paris were wonderful. We avoided the usually tourist traps and explored the city by foot - 100% recommend!
