"Had a great experience! Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms were clean and the environment was quiet. I look forward to visiting again and can’t wait to see all of the new renovations. The area is nice and surrounded by a lot of nice spots within walking distance as well."

"One of the best features about this property is LOCATION, as it’s situated in South Carlsbad right off I-5, has an attractive swimming pool, and a great breakfast with hot food and two of those swanky Costa coffee machines. I have stayed in this Holiday Inn Express six times. What I particularly like, in addition to the aspects already mentioned is that it’s close to the ocean. This helps visitors to SoCal save precious time since you can jump on the 5 and get to other destinations without having to travel too far inland. I like driving on the road between I-5 and the Pacific because it will take you north into Carlsbad proper where you can dine at upscale restaurants or simply walk the village of Carlsbad, always fun to do, or south into Leucadia for casual dining like Leucadia Pizzeria. I do think that the property needs a little attention as to the condition of certain rooms as about a year ago, I was placed in a first-floor next to the swimming pool and noticed the bathroom tile floor required modest repair, but this is minor. There is a Benihana restaurant in front of the hotel which draws a good crowd, or you can drive or walk to a small strip mall on the south side of Poinsettia Lane which has a Starbucks and also a very laidback fresh seafood restaurant, Pelly’s, that has been in business since at least the decade of the 90s. I ate in Pelly’s just last night and purchased one of their charbroiled seafood plates with ahi, cooked through, salad and rice. Enjoy!"

"A garden room was assigned to us, we had no view of the ocean. We did have a front row seat of the kiddies play ground, happy, playful screeching toddlers ran back and forth on the putting green! I absolutely adore children and laughter however, this is my relaxing vacation so this location was not ideal for us. I requested a room on a second floor but there weren’t any available at the time so we spent our time inside with the slider door shut. A high price to pay for a nursery, I did not enjoy the location of my room. The property and surroundings are well maintained, the staff are accommodating and manage the front desk very well. The kitchen was well appointed. This room would be ideal for a family with kids, kiddie pool, splash fountain and putting green right there in front of you!"

"This place is disgustingly dirty spend the extra money and stay at one of the other hotels nearby. The hotel is over priced for how bad is was. The bed was falling apart the room smelled like pee there was someone else hair all over the clean towels mold growing in the shower. Stains on the floors.This place is basically a drugged den.We tried to get some help from the front desk and the employee just sat there for over an hour before he would pick up the phone or answer the door. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone especially if you have children."
