A secluded beach surrounded by mountains and mangrove forest, Ban Thalane sits along Thailand’s Andaman coast in Krabi province, around 30kms northwest of Krabi Town. It is a quiet beach that has a unique eco-system and makes for a great base for exploring the rest of the province’s stunning natural beauty. It is not high on the tourist itinerary, providing a tranquil place that appeals mostly to nature lovers.

Ban Thalane does not have a lot to see, but has plenty of things to do, with nature and natural beauty being the focus here.

Those that want to stay on Ban Thalane and enjoy what it has to offer can go swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, birdwatching or hiking up the mountainous backdrop. It is also possible to hire a speedboat for the day to explore the nearby islands, including the famous James Bond Island.

If you want to get out of Ban Thalane for the day and enjoy even more activities try these: rock climbing in Railay, scuba diving in the Andaman Sea, caving in Tham Hua Kalok, sea kayaking or trekking in Than Bok Khorani National Park or Khao Phanom Bencha National Park.

There are not a lot of restaurant and bar options in Ban Thalane other than in its beachfront resorts. Thai cuisine and seafood is what is on most menus, with most also having a few international options. Having a beer or cocktail while watching the sunset is a favourite pastime of most visitors.

There is little to no shopping in Ban Thalane itself, with the exception of a few local convenience stores. If you want to buy souvenirs, clothing, handicrafts ceramics and other items, take a taxi to Krabi Town or Ao Nang.
