"Ryokan Sansui is a wonderful gem nestled in a quiet, pristine natural setting near Kamikochi, making it an ideal retreat for anyone looking to escape the bustle and immerse themselves in authentic Japanese hospitality. From the moment of arrival, the warm and attentive staff consistently go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. The hot spring facilities are exceptional, featuring soothing main baths alongside excellent private onsen options that offer a serene, intimate space to relax after a day of exploring. Dining at the ryokan is a true highlight, with both the multi-course dinner and traditional breakfast served with meticulous care, showcasing superb local ingredients and beautiful presentation. Combined with its peaceful alpine surroundings and convenient proximity to Kamikochi, Ryokan Sansui provides a truly restorative stay that I would happily return to."

"Toyoko Inn Matsumoto Ekimae Honmachi is a reliable and convenient option for travelers looking to make the most of Matsumoto city and its surrounding attractions. What We Liked The location is a clear strength. Don Quijote is right across the street, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for every budget and taste. Most importantly, Matsumoto Castle is within walking distance — a big plus if sightseeing is on your agenda. The room, while compact, was well laid out and did not feel cramped despite fitting two adults and a child in a double room with two beds. A nice touch was the amenity pickup system at reception, where guests can collect toiletries such as facial wash and facial cleanser as needed — practical and thoughtful. Breakfast offered a decent variety of basic options, a convenient way to start the day before heading out to explore. What We Didn't Like Parking is minimal, which could be an inconvenience if you are traveling by car. Worth planning ahead if that applies to your trip. Overall Toyoko Inn Matsumoto Ekimae Honmachi punches above its weight for the price. It is a clean, well-located, and practical stay for those using Matsumoto as a base for visiting the castle, or heading further out to Azumino or Kamikochi."
