"If you’re using it as a base, not a bad idea but keep in mind the place is pretty shabby, no shower available in the bathroom a bit smelly and very rundown no reinventing obviously. Put it this way there’s Spains on the chairs you sit on at dinner and there’s a layer of dust so thick it’s changed the colour of the lampshades in the dining room. A real shame as it’s a prime location."

"What a lovely room at the top of a pub. Beautifully presented and pristine and lots of space although steep steps. There are a few quirks as to be expected in an old building but that didn’t put us off as we ourselves live in an old property. Communication was very good. Thank you for having us 😊"

"The staff were amazing but the hotel itself was very tired and requires a revamp. Our room had hair clumps on the floor can only presume it was from previous guests under the bed has never been hoovered in months, marks on towels and bedding. Furniture is very dated and marked ."

The lady at the reception was very kind to me and helped me when there was an issue with the booking as Expedia had not sent the booking through properly and she still managed to find me a room. Had a lovely ploughmans and sticky toffee pudding for lunch in bar area,really enjoyable.Nice patio outside for evening drinks!!!Breakfast was excellent set in a beautiful dining room,service was excellent especially from sue who went out her way to make it enjoyable!This was my first visit to the Castle Hotel of Brecon and it won't be my last!!"
