"Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. The only down sude was the loss of my credidit card - was is handed in to you?? Dennis Cole"

"Looking quite tired now in some of the rooms and have had to report maintenance requirements in different on my last 3 stays. Change of policy to not offer breakfast as part of a package without any change in price is sneaky and wasn't communicated at booking."

"This hotel is in a very old Tudor style building with heaps of charm and quirkiness. This is a popular and busy pub/restaurant/hotel. Our room was on the top floor with access by stairs with high risers. The double bedroom was small with only one bedside table and no cupboards and only one stool so it is best suited to a one night stay. The room was clean and tidy with again the charm of an uneven floor which is not a problem just be aware. As the room is close to the roof it can get very warm...

"Amazing break! Staff all friendly. Food in main restaurant was amazing and had a great massage at spa by Hannah. Spa was all lovely and clean and not overcrowded. The only thing was the relaxation room was not open after our massage as we chose the last session. The pastries at breakfast were not worth the calories as a bit stodgy. Other dishes were absolutely amazing. Thanks"

"Stayed for one night, with my son, for a Mazda MX5 car meet up in the car park- the reason for our stay. The hotel is very nice. We had a meal in the Savvy Fox - i like the decor. The meal was very nice - but not cheap. The twin room was very basic, but was clean and adequate for a one night stay. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. "Lovely traditional pub, nice rooms, clean and tidy and equipped with all the essentials. Good menu and helpful service in pub. I phoned ahead to advise of a late arrival (flight delayed) and they were kind enough to accept our food order after usual end of service time. We were most grateful. There's a pleasant outside seating area and lots of inside seating. Board games galore. Highly recommend. "

"The staff were friendly but very green, during an evening meal and breakfast we had to ask several times for things like water, coffee and toast and some of these things didn't arrive at all. They are pleasant but need more training on staying on top of orders and clearing the tables. Breakfast is strange with you being charged £17 to have access to the continental and light breakfast menu, and then you having to pay an extra £5 for more premium items like a full English. Why not just say it...

"This is the best stay I have had away from home. The host was so welcoming, it was like visiting a close friend. Well taken care of. I was in Shrewbury for a Triathlon, and had to be taken to hospital. The host took in my bike from UK Triathlon who delivered it to help me. Breakfast was brililant. And the room was MASSIVE. More than just and B&B"
