Pool / Beach: Pool chairs were all gone by 8am. There are cabanas that take up all the space and they charge you $200-$250 per day for them depending on who you talk to. The beach due to all of the seaweed was gross. They try to clean it up but there is so much of it. If you want a nice beach to walk on this is not the place. The smell was also awful. Food: We’ve visited a number of all-inclusives in Mexico and DR and this is the worst food we’ve ever experienced. Menus were not good, food not even appetizing and our son got food poisoning and missed two days of our trip sick in the room. Overall: This resort is tired and underwhelming. The staff is very polite but service is not above and beyond at all. It seems that they get their business from destination weddings. We booked preferred and it seems as though they expanded the preferred and have given it to nearly everyone. Our room was definitely nothing special.

We had an incredible stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun and were honestly blown away. My wife and I typically travel to higher-end resorts, so we came in with tempered expectations—but this place exceeded them in every way. The staff was exceptional—genuinely friendly, attentive, and always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding across the board, which is not always a given at all-inclusives. Every meal felt high quality and thoughtfully prepared. The resort itself was spotless, well-maintained, and incredibly convenient—everything you could want was right at your fingertips, making it easy to truly relax. What really stood out is how well the resort is tailored to families. Traveling with kids can sometimes feel stressful, but here it was the opposite. There are so many activities, kid-friendly amenities, and thoughtful touches that make it just as enjoyable for children as it is for adults. Overall, this was one of the best resort experiences we’ve had. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier, family-friendly getaway. FYI - get a poolside cabana EVERY DAY. It’s $100 for the day. It was a no-brainer for multiple reasons, especially if you have kids that need to get out of the sun for a little bit. You don’t have to fight chairs, it’s private and you have your own bartender. Ours was Israel. He was absolutely awesome all week.

If you choose resorts based on the beach experience, I won’t recommend Dreams Rivera Cancún. The resort was very well maintained, unfortunately, the seaweed situation was not well managed. We paid extra for the Preferred Club which put us right on the edge of the property which was next to a vacant property where the seaweed was permitted to build up and build up. They were using tractors and dump trucks to pull the seaweed out the week we were there and the smell was like death. We saw at least three dump truck loads of seaweed loaded up and it barely made a dent in the remaining seaweed. From our balcony, it was rancid smelling. The beach was even worse smelling, but it was near impossible to get a beach chair anyway. People would start saving chairs at 7 am, then not show up until 11 am or noon to actually use the chairs. If Dreams had the seaweed situation under better control, as well as the beach chair situation, this would have been a 5/5 review because the food, bars, staff, resort, rooms, entertainment, etc. were all on par with previous stays at Dreams.

This was taken after three dump truck loads of seaweed were taken away from the neighboring property.

Everything was wonderful! My only disappointments were the French Restaurant food wasn't up to French standards for cuisine. Also, the sargassum on the beach was very smelly and I am wondering if there could be more attention paid to raking it and hauling it away. Thank you.

The hotel is great, the beach is great as well. I just have a comment regarding the quality of the food and drinks, unfortunately even in the restaurants the food is acceptable but not so great. The quality of the alcohol options is standard-low, I would like they could offer higher quality for beer, tequila, etc.

It was very cold on the plane, and I had a hard time because I hadn’t brought a jacket. The resort was clean and spacious, and I enjoyed the delicious cuisine from various countries. The staff were friendly. However, the air conditioning wasn’t working properly, so it was cold.

We took a chance trying a new resort and this did not disappoint. The resort is beautiful and the food was a pleasant surprise! Many options and all were very good. The staff is so friendly and they go above and beyond to make you feel at home. They always had activities to all ages around the pool. It felt a little crowded at first but we got used to it. I wish the view of the ocean was a little better but I think this is how most resorts are and that's not a deal breaker for us. Very beautiful resort. Some people didn't recommend this for couples without children but my husband and I really enjoyed it(we're 34&40). We would definitely like to come back here for another trip.

The room was exactly as described. Beach was full of seaweed and unusable. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were bottom shelf liquor with limited selections. Spa experience not worth the money. Food very good at the restaurants. Breakfast buffet was average. Fitness center was excellent. Weddings each night so very little entertainment for the hotel guest, just had the DJ music from the wedding receptions. Overall, good value for the price but for myself, as a 50 year old looking to relax on vacation, this would not be a property we will return to

Overall, this is a good place to rest and relax. The staff was wonderful—every person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and professional. Service throughout the hotel was excellent, especially at the VIP Club, where the team was truly outstanding. The food was okay, but the buffet could use more variety. I’ve been visiting Cancun for over 10 years and have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts, and one thing that stood out was the limited liquor selection. Some common brands, such as Maestro Dobel, were not available—even in the VIP area but sold at a ridiculous price during night events. The nighttime entertainment could also be improved. Shows were scheduled during dinner hours, which made it difficult to enjoy them, especially when traveling with a large group. In addition, the lobby bar closing at 11 PM felt early for an all-inclusive resort. Another inconvenience was that restaurants could not accommodate larger parties (12+ people) unless an extra fee was paid. Despite these points, the excellent service from the staff made the stay enjoyable.
