Pretty decent hotel. Alittle bit old inside and not as good as some others but very good location right in front of don q and food places.
The room had a little sofa, table, fridge & microwave. Great if you're staying a few nights. About 15 minutes' walk from Shinjuku station but closer to Shin-Okubo (7minutes). Convenience store across the street with a breakfast cafe above. Would definitely stay there again!
Hotel it’s on a perfect location, SOOO many restaurants and bars to check it out and on front it has a Don quijote store which is extremely convenient.
The hotel was on a busy street/ alley yet it was extremely quiet. The rooms were clean including bathroom and toilet. My first experience staying at a touch free no front desk concierge unless you ring the bell! The new age I guess! No complaints.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rio! The room was very well sized for the area and super comfortable, and the staff was very nice and helpful.
The location is also unbeatable - you’re just a few minutes walk from Kabukicho as well as Shinjuku and Okubo stations, which gives you easy access pretty much anywhere via the Yamanote Line. The 24h Don Quijote across the street is also helpful for anything you may have forgotten to pack.
One thing to note - it’s not a quiet part of town, though this didn’t bother me at all. I actually really enjoy hearing the sounds of the city. Just something to keep in mind!
Overall, would highly recommend Hotel Rio to anyone staying in Shinjuku! I’ll certainly be returning the next time we visit.
All around a nice experience. The staff were very kind and helpful. I stayed for three weeks and grew very fond of the hotel and surrounding area. It's in a very convenient location with many useful things within walking distance, and it's easy to get around Tokyo as there is a Yamanote line station fairly close.
The entire hotel felt clean and the staff was very nice. We efficiently communicated despite the language barrier and there were no problems.
Nice location and spacious room. The room was fairly clean and had lots of amenities (it also had a hair curler which i loved).
However, the check-in and check-out process was a bit frustrating, as I didn’t receive a reservation number or QR code when booking through Hotels.com, so we needed assistance from the staff. After checking out the first time, we also had to pay ¥6000 to store two bags overnight while we went to climb Mt. Fuji, even though we were returning to stay at the same hotel the very next day. Might as well have booked another room and left our bags in there…

Good location but security is questionable
Hotel location is good, 15 min walk to Shinjuku Stn, 5-10 min walk to other stns. Room was clean and comfortable, big shower with tub. Seperate toliet room. Doesn'thave daily room cleaning, you have to request it. The security of the hotel is of concern. No one mans the front desk. Every time we went in and out, no one was there. Anyone can enter the hotel and elevator requires no key card to get onto the floors, so security is none existing. If solo traveler and security is top of list, this hotel is not it.
The front desk staff were lovely, we did use google translate to converse but overall super helpful. The hotel itself is a bit of a walk from Shinjuku station but there are other train stations nearby.
Overall great hotel, as most hotels in Japan it is small but we found it quite spacious.
The shower and bathtub was huge. Toilet had its own room and was easy to use.
The interesting cute part was the wallpaper was all Mickey Mouse.
For us this room served its purpose, a place to rest. We spent the rest of our time exploring Shinjuku and the surrounding area.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a good price and nice sleep. The beds were firm but I had an excellent sleep. Nice pillows.
There was no room key but a code which was nice you don’t have to worry about loosing a physical key.
If you’re on the fence just book it. You can take an uber from the train if you’re not too keen on walking from the train station.
If you have kids I maybe would not recommend this place the location is nearby an area where there are a lot of clubs. Night life is bumpin’ in Shinjuku if you’re a couple or people with no kids it’s a fun spot.
Did not share photos but the photos online are accurate they’re more of a 0.5 ratio so it’s smaller than you think but the rooms have a really good layout.
Overall excellent. If we come back to Shinjuku we likely will stay here again. Don Quixote is right next door! Such good shopping.
Just book it alright?
