"Our La Fortuna stay included four hotels the springs, nayara, mi amor, and tabacon. Tabacon Resort/room is roughly 4 star. Staff is polite from check in to breakfast, 5 star. The thermal springs are 5 star and phenomenal, best/largest on our trip by far. The access to shangri-la area in the springs, when staying at the hotel, makes it worth it. Also hotel guests are allowed in the hot springs before general public at 8am. Im sure it is a huge bonus during peak season. The food and drinks at the hot springs bar were good. Priced higher than they should be...+tax/service fee/tip...but fresh, well made and suit the atmosphere. Several vegetarian options at shangri-la, all were good. We added breakfast to our stay, there was an extra charge for that through expedia. It was not bad and included an egg station as well as coffee to order, oatmilk. Wish they had a potato morning option instead of plantains both days, local so it makes sense. Shuttle to the hot springs comes to hotel lobby/reception every 5 minutes and very convenient. From our trip there are only two resorts I will certainly revisit, this will be one of them. A must for hot springs, I'm glad we didn't skip it."

"We had an amazing stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. The location was perfect, with easy access to tours, hiking trails, and beautiful jungle parks, making it an excellent place for adventure and nature lovers. The food was excellent, with fresh and delicious options every day. What really stood out was the exceptional customer service — everyone went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway."

"The room is a bit old but clean. Breakfast is good, though for a longer stay it lacks variety. The staff is amazing, and overall it was a clean and great stay."

"Very nice resort. Great views - you're one on one with nature there. The private villas are the way to go. Great staff, too. They also have their own private nature trail to investigate as well. Even though there was construction going on directly behind our villa it didn't impact our 3 night stay at all. I commend them for that. The villa was very clean, the glass shower to the outdoors is very cool. Some bugs were able to make their way in but nothing unreasonable. CR construction standards can't be compared to the US but it was acceptable. You're on the side of a mountain so be prepared for some steps to get to your room. If you need rooms to be "accessible" then CR probably isn't for you. You're either going up or down to get anywhere. The convenience of being next to the Mistico Hanging Bridges was nice - one less destination to have to drive to. The included morning buffet at the Lost Iguana was fantastic. Yeah, it's a short drive away but worth it. Each day they had some variation in their breakfast offerings. The staff there was great - shout out to David! I don't know if I'd go back but if I did I know I wouldn't be disappointed."

"This is a beautiful place in the middle of the Rainforest with an impeccable view of the Arenal Volcano! The rooms are divided among separate dwellings for each group (example: 200s, 300s, etc) They offer rides to different areas of the property, but I took the opportunity to walk to must places within the property for some exercise. Nothing is really that far! Just remember to use your bug repellent when walking around outside. The view of the Volcano depends on the day. The moment I arrived, the view was stunning! The gentleman who helped with my bags and showed me the room insisted I had to take photos in that moment as he said it was the best view he'd seen in days. I'm glad I listened because within an hour the clouds had covered it. So when you see it clearly, take photos!! All of the staff here are so pleasant and very helpful. The free buffet style breakfast is wonderful. And the hot tub in the room was chef's kiss after long days of activity. There's also a spa and a gift shop that we're really nice! This place was so quiet and peaceful, especially upon walking in the morning. All you hear are the sounds of nature. I definitely recommend this place! I'd certainly stay here again."

"The view from the room was absolutely stunning and definitely the highlight of our stay. The room itself was clean and spacious, which worked perfectly for me and my husband. However, there were a few downsides. The room felt a bit dark and outdated, and unfortunately, the bed was not comfortable for my liking. The pillows were also extremely large, which made it difficult for me to sleep. I asked the attendant if there were thinner options available, but I was told there weren’t any, and the response felt dismissive and lacking in care. Breakfast was just okay—nothing particularly memorable. Additionally, the drive up to the hotel was quite intense and challenging, which is something to keep in mind when planning your visit. Overall, while the view and room size were great, the lack of comfort and service made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been."

"El estacionamiento esta un poco pequeño, y un poco peligroso. Ellos tienen un cargador para carro electrico, pero algunas personas no lo respetan y tuvimos que pedir qeue movieran el carro para poder cargarlo. El resto muy bonito."
