"Very nice place. Well maintained with a lovely hot tub. Good bar on site. We had some issues checking in and can only assume that was down to Expedia (we did not get key code which caused some issues). Would return."

All the staff were really lovely but the lady in reception who dealt with us was especially helpful to us. The breakfast was really nice too. "We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). "Downstairs in the pub and restaurant i cannot fault it, the place is well maintained and clean. The bar is well stocked however it was very busy with only one staff working. Food was excellent and a great variety of choice. Breakfast was limited but the full English was brilliant. Upstairs really needs a refurbishment, the rooms are dated and tired, having said that it was clean and water/ coffee refreshed each morning."

"Dinner menu is good and servings great. We were surprised at breakfast when they allocated each room to a table. It helps when starting the day You have to choose the breakfast menu and time the night before but that's better for both the property and the guests as both will know what to expect "

"A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."

"The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs."

"What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. Room was spacious and bed comfy. All together a great place to stay."

"Not very clean in the room and toilet,curtains was hanging off the runner's. There are 2 main roads each side of the hotel and it was very noisy.when booking they did say they didn't have a car park,but it was ok to use the hotel across the road,there isn't an hotel across the road.the only parking was a cricket club 500mtrs plus down the Rd to park at"
