The location is great—it's close to the train station and within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, yet it remains surprisingly quiet.
One major drawback is the housekeeping service. They do not change bedsheets or towels during your stay; you have to go to the reception desk daily to exchange your towels yourself.
However, there is one absolute plus: free cold beers, coffee, and snacks are available for guests!
One of the most unique hotels: A lot of the alcohol is free (self-serve draft beer in the lobby and 14 cans of free beer/mixed drinks in the room), but housekeeping and storing your bags before/after your stay cost money.
All-in-all though, this was a good hotel for the price.
All good but it can be noisy. We were on the 3rd floor. All the rooms doors are facing the inner terrace where people visit. That can be heard in the room. Also, the traffic from the busy street can be very loud. The free beer and snacks in the comfortable lobby is a nice touch. They do charge 550Y per bag per day to store luggage. Even for a couple of hours. It's only a 5-10 minute walk to the station.
Overall great hotel with friendly staff. Love the complimentary drinks and snacks they offer. Only thing is having to pay for luggage storage which I have never had to before in other hotels in Japan.
Property location was great, staff was amazing, and for a more budget hotel, the size was great. Bathrooms were dirty but the rest of the hotel outweighed the gross showers!
Loved the location and professionalism of the staff. The room was perfect in every way and we will return for future trips. Zonk Hotel Hakata is accommodating on all levels providing you with the ultimate customer service experience, making our trip all the worthwhile in every way!!! Thank and we’ll see you soon!

Disliked: Amenities
Perfect location and great atmosphere however, the fact that extra blankets were not accessible or available was a disappointment.
Staff were very polite.
Hotel room was big and clean but sound-proofing was not very good.
It's good that drinks in mini-bar was free to drink but only alcoholic drinks was available.
Baggage storage was 500 yen per piece.

Room size is comparatively small but expected. Service is good and staff is responsive. Surprisingly there is Beer and nuts which is free flow provided at lobby.
Overall is good but location is a bit far away from Hakata Station.
More motel than hotel. My door was facing an exterior hallway so traffic noise was loud in my room. Curtain was not sufficient to block light. Also room cleaning is not included so guests are instructed to bring used towels and trash to bins on 2nd floor or pay additional fee for cleaning. The lobby had lots of young adults hanging out as there is a complimentary snack/drink bar. Good size bathroom & shower.
Nice hotel with friendly staff. Be better if the in room mini bar had some non-alcoholic drinks in it. During my stay there was a fire alarm activation in the morning, there were no staff outside the building communicating with those guests who actually evacuated the building, which would have been useful. As it was guests were going back inside the building before an all clear had been given. and as the hotel has some open balconies visible from the street it was clear that a number of guests hadn't bothered to evacuate at all! I guess Darwinisim in action...
Room is fairly run down, seems like it only gets a very basic cleaning, the tiles in the entrance way and the bathroom have a clear trail where they get cleaned and thats it. Lots of hair all over. Bathroom fan very loud and must be left on. Door also has no weather stripping or jam so it lets all the noise of the nearby trains and cars in VERY easily and was super drafty. Also had some very noisy other guests my second night there. Bed was comfortable though, nice pillows, also a large walk in shower is nice. Plus free many free alcoholic drinks is nice. Staff were nice and spoke English as well, and checkout is super quick and convenient, just drop the room key in the box and leave. No room cleaning so you need to go get more towels if you need them, two are in the room though so not a big deal. Front door took me a minute to find, thought it was just a window, front desk is on the second floor, must use elevator.
