Unfortunately, when I booked; my room was not thoroughly cleaned. The bathroom had mold, (in the walls and shower curtain) the walls were thin. People were loud making it hard to sleep. Also, there isn't much variety for food to eat at breakfast. You only have 2 options to choose from. The location is a great and convenient. That's about it.

We made it work
Great to be so near Maizuru Park and the PayPay Dome and shopping. The staff and service at the hotel was as excellent as you'd expect in Japan, and even as a traveling family of 3 with 3 suitcases, in the room with 4 twin beds we could totally make the fairly spartan accommodations work. The biggest issue we had was a fairly constant pounding sound -- unsure if it was from the HVAC system or (as we were on the floor just below) the washing machine(s). It was like someone in the hall or an adjoining room was periodically dribbling a basketball.
We didn't leverage the restaurant, but the fare available looked good. We walked 6 or 7 minutes down to the pristine Mister Donut.

Great location
Old building and rooms, but the cost performance for the Japanese room and location is unbeatable.
Terrible bathroom. Not dirty, just a bad layout for the shower controls and the water temperature was inconsistent.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Way too expensive for what the room had to offer which was not worth 16,000 a night at all. Tiny tv, tiny room, cobwebs on walls and floors. Not worth the money at all, ripoff. Very unprofessional and not even a clean room.

I booked a non-smoking room but I smelled smoke as I walked down the hall to my room and the room even had an ashtray so not sure if that's a smoking room or non-smoking room but I didn't like the smoke odor in the room. Also, considering how much the room costed per night, the facility needed a major renovation. I stayed in much nicer places during my trip in other cities for a lot less cost per night. Knowing this, I would consider staying else where next time.
The room was full of the smell of cigarette smoke. When I went in, I couldn't breathe and my eyes were stinging. I requested another room, but was told that was the only room available. In today's world, who would want to stay in a room where the entire room smells like cigarettes, from the walls to the bedding and bathroom? It didn't matter that it was small and old. It just needs to be kept clean. However, the smell of cigarette smoke that did not go away even if the window was open for several hours on a midwinter day was a very headache-inducing experience. I slept with a mask on all night (I didn't even go into bed and lie down or change into my pajamas.) and ran away before dawn. It felt like my hair smelled like cigarette smoke and it was an experience I never want to go through again.
