"The check-in process was easy and headache free. The breakfast/ kitchen team were kind and helpful. Note that breakfast closes 30 min earlier on weekdays vs weekends (1030 vs 11). The room itself was spacious with clean linens. No mini fridge or way to call front desk though. No outlets in the bathrooms, you have to blow dry your hair in the main room and the dryer is fused into the wall. The light next to the mirror was not operational. "Room was kept clean, as was the rest of the building. Access to the restaurant and bar was great. The hotel itself was also nearby lots of other places that was nice for our stay, such as other restaurants, the bus stop, grocery store and the beach. It was a nice place to stay away from the busyness of Edinburgh, but still access the city through a 20-30 minute but ride. Only negative was the mattress wasn't in amazing condition"

"Everything was clean. I loved my room. It’s not the most updated place in the world, but it had its own charm. It’s warm and inviting. The staff was great, and had good suggestions for tours. It’s kind of a pain not having anything nearby. No convenience stores or coffee shops. You have to take a train or Uber. I tried the connected restaurant twice and did not care for it. It’ll do though with nothing else around. Overall, it was a good value and I felt safe and comfortable"

"As a first time in Edinburgh at 28 years , I do recommend ! Very friendly guests , they do their best in making it as comfortable as possible . It’s best to leave a message on your arrival date. The location is adequate very close to the bus station and a 15-20 minute walk to the amazing Portobello beach that is filled with amazing coffee shops and restaurants. The stores are nearby and has access to an ATM . Coffee is free and amenities are given all you need to do is ask . I would surely stay...

"The Ocean Mist is a delight, particularly if you remember the sad state it was in a few years back. Now it has a super mix of original details and modern comforts, managed by smiling, helpful staff in naval uniforms. Bed and linens are top notch - there isn’t a tv, but if you want to stay in your cabin the wi-fi will let you stream. Not only is it right across the street from a very large church with loud bells that continue to ring into the night… The bars open up with many people still strolling down the streets at one or two in the morning. "Lovely restored house in a neighborhood (more like a B&B). There is a bus that runs into Edinburgh proper or you can take the mile walk. The hotel gives very good recommendations for local dining. Parking can be difficult (limited on-street parking for non-residents). No eating in the rooms."
