The Staff went above and beyond helpful. I arrived early and the manager Abs went out of his way to get breakfast for me after the kitchen closed and had my room ready hours before check-in. I have stayed in many fine hotels and not had the exceptional service that the Staff provided!! Thank You so much, Rose Ann Wade
So its been a few years since we stayed at HDV Edinburgh, it was always one of our favourites, and I’m happy to say that its still as good as ever. Lovely staff, superb room, great bar and restaurant. I dont know what else to say, except, it remains a favourite!

Hotel is very well located and lovely in many ways. It was let down by the very hot bedrooms (air con don’t seem to work) and the quality of the food. Asked for a rare steak and was very much medium/well done. Burnt black pudding at breakfast. Maybe chef has having an off couple of days.
Excellent place to stay if you want to be in Old Town. Lovely, nice sized room! Would definitely stay here again! Did not try the onsite restaurant/bar but it looked very good!
Hotel is good in central location, just would suggest nore variety for breakfast.

The bed was amazing! It was so comfortable and cozy. All of the staff were very friendly. Kaya in the bar was exceptional! Very friendly and very knowledgeable about scotch. We would definitely stay at this hotel again
The hotel was absolutely amazing—perfectly located so that everything I wanted to see in Edinburgh was just a short walk away, yet far enough that it felt peaceful and relaxing. My room was phenomenal—comfortable, spacious, and beautifully appointed. The staff was incredibly attentive, especially as they kept an eye on my missing luggage and gave me regular updates. The restaurant was phenomenal as well—both the food and the service were top-notch. I could ask for nothing more. The atmosphere and décor were simply magnificent, and I can’t wait to stay here again on my next trip to Edinburgh.
