"今回で4度目のおごと温泉でした。こちらの旅館の、ホスピタリティの高い対応には感動しました。担当して頂いた仲居さんは、夜ご飯、朝ごはんの時の説明が丁寧で、時に笑いもありで楽しく、美味しくいただけました。温泉の湯も、晩朝と2回入れてとてもツルツルになってリラックスできました。朝ご飯の後は、フリードリンクのコーヒーや紅茶の種類も沢山ありまったり過ごせました。送迎のバスの運転手の方の、駅で最後までお見送りも丁寧で嬉しかったです。人気の犬のまめたろうくんも可愛かったです。すべてのスタッフの方の笑顔での対応に、また来たいなと思う場所でした。 "

Kyoto Takao Kanko Hotel

4/10 Poor

"First, the staff was lovely, kind and very helpful. However, the property was very old, not kept up at all, and very far outside of the city. It’s by a beautiful river, but outside of a seating area, there is no place to walk or enjoy it. The property smells of mold (if you are sensitive, you may need to pass). And there was black mold growing on the tub/shower. The breakfast was a beautiful representation of a traditional Japanese start to the day, however, and we were thankful to enjoy it."

"To start the staff is absolutely kind and hospitable. They really make you feel at home even if you’re 1000s of miles from it. Second, the actual hotel and scenery is out of a dream. An actual fairy tale! It made me fall in love with Japan even more. Third, everything was super clean and neat. And lastly, the complimentary items were just unbelievable! I will recommend anyone and everyone to this beautiful place. I will forever be grateful for everyone there!"

"The hotel is located on the last stop of the K line. It was very easy to reach any part of Kyoto and it was a nice quiet trip home each evening on our way back to the hotel. The staff was wonderful and the snacks that were available during the day were tasty and convenient. We stayed in a room with a king bed, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, but the thermostat doesn’t have English so make sure you have your translator. We had the hotel do our laundry in the hotel which was a bit pricey, but we didn’t have a choice. The bathroom didn’t seem to have great air circulation so it did have a bit of a musty smell. The breakfast had both Japanese options and typical USA breakfast options. We would stay here again if we visit Kyoto."

"Exceptionally nice staff. Beautiful onsen and most of the time had the whole onsen to myself, and it’s limited to 4 people at a time at max. The breakfast was amazing. Really nice garden view from our room which is shared with other rooms but felt private. There are also lots of shops and temples to explore in Ohara that are much less crowded than Kyoto. "

"It's a peaceful hotel surrounded by gorgeous mountains. It provides a traditional Japanese experience. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Japan. It has an onsen, so no private bathroom (toilets are also public). You sleep on a futon that you set up yourself. The staff provides dinner and breakfast and they play an instrumental Studio Ghibli soundtrack in the background while you dine to add to the peaceful atmosphere (everyone gets the same meal, you don't order it). There's wifi. The little table in your room is heated. There's a provided yukata that you can use during your stay. The staff is very friendly. They even give you a ride to the bus station in the morning if you want it. Otherwise, it's a 13 minute walk. But the walk in beautiful, because the town is beautiful."
