The Barrio Viejo (or Barrio Historico) in Tucson, just south of downtown. The fabric of the neighborhood has retained some of its 19th century character, with thick adobe walls and colorful doors. Some buildings are derelict--some seemed intentionally so--and many others have been renovated, painted, and house artists' studios or lawyers' offices. It's the most fascinating part of Tucson.
