"The room was very clean, the bed was really large and comfortable, the receptionist we met on arrival and departure was very kind, friendly and made us feel very welcome, also the domestic team were equally helpful and friendly. We were able to book a late checkout at no extra cost which made our stay even better. We really enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely stay again when we visit York. "

"A lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings, offering cosy, comfortable rooms that make for a relaxing stay. There are several pubs nearby, and it’s easy to reach York city centre by bus, or by a scenic 40-minute walk. A great balance of peace and convenience — I’ll definitely be returning."

"If you want a relaxed break this is a great hotel to book, just come back from a weekend away. What a joy to stay somewhere with such amazing staff. Room was lovely very clean comfy bed. Great breakfast we also dined in the restaurant and bar which was really nice. Had a three hour spa to finish off our stay. Will definitely be back."

"Beautiful hotel, very good customer service. Only downside was the breakfast. We were charged £17 per person for a pretty lacklustre offering. My husband requested pancakes which were on the menu for an additional £2.50, so we were expecting a spectacular stack as a result; what he got was a couple of shop bought small pancakes to go with a very dry sausage and one rasher of bacon. Given that everything else was top-notch in the hotel, we feel they should perhaps review their breakfast and...

"Room was delightful,spacious, clean and had great tea making facilities. Staff were welcoming and happy to chat. We loved the Halls historic features which were highlighted in Christmas decor making it very special. We enjoyed a walk around the gardens in the morning before heading off a short distance into York. Fabulous stay and will be back again! Many thanks"

Staff were happy to take our bags, when we arrived well ahead of check in, in fact all the staff whether in reception, breakfast or in the bar were polite and professional. Thought the rooms were excellent and very comfortable, huge comfy beds and spotless. Just enjoyed the layout of the hotel very relaxing with a nice atmosphere, overall an excellent stay and will definitely be back."
