"Absolutely amazing and very new property located directly between the beach and shops. We came as a couple and had a fantastic time but this place would be perfect for a family gathering or celebration. We were lucky to meet the owner, Robin, while we were there and the staff Lola and Jocelyn were fantastic! Breakfast every morning was a delight. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cleaner pool in my life. If you are looking for a place to stay in laid back little Playa Avellana this is it. Highly recommend"

"I loved the short walk to the beach. The beach was beautiful and hardly anyone was on the beach. Also saw some monkeys in the trees out back of the property. The food was good, we only ate there twice. We had several drinks each night at the bar. Loved the location being so close to several sodas. Road to the lodge was rough but all the roads were pretty rough. Make sure if you book this through Expedia they have your flight landing in Liberia not San Jose, we lost two days due to SJO being our airport. It doesn't seem far away but with traffic the way back took us 7 hours. So grateful to the staff and owner of Gucamaya Lodge, you helped us so much and we enjoyed your company. Can't wait to return one day!"

"Fantastic hotel, restaurant, and hospitality. We stayed in a suite... it was clean, quiet, comfortable, and had amazing water pressure in the shower. It was a perfect night sleep. We used the pool, ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and the ocean is a short walk to a quiet beach! There's a great upper deck to sit and read while sipping coffee or a drink from the restaurant. The best part was the staff/hospitality. I cannot thank the people taking care of us enough. You were the highlight! I believe the bartender/server's name was Steven(?) and he was awesome. Kind, helpful, and pleasant. The chef was amazing too! This place is a hidden gem and we will be back to stay again."

"We had an excellent time at the Mikado. It was our first time to Costa Rica and it was probably one of our best holidays. Such a fun adventure. Lolo was an excellent host and if you do stay you must take advantage of her dinners. Incredibly romantic. The location is perfect. Quick drives to Tamarindo, Playa Avellanas and Playa Conchal. Great places to explore and then return to the peace and tranquility of the lodge. Absolutely perfect. "
