Such a lovely stay. We stayed for 10 days. The receptionist was so attentive and helpful, the rooms were modern and clean. Overall 10/10. Perfect location as well, right off the busy 5th ave but quiet and only a 5min walk to the beach.

Excellent stay at this property, previously known to us as Ah-Xok. From the outset, the staff made a clear difference—Nohemi, Yamila, and Julian at the front desk were outstanding in coordinating taxis, providing helpful local guidance, and offering discounted beach club access nearby. Their service was consistently professional, attentive, flexible, and well-informed. The suite was spotless and very well maintained, featuring excellent air conditioning, a comfortable mattress, clean white linens, and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. Yesenia maintained the suite to a very high standard and was particularly attentive in accommodating our customized cleaning requests, which was greatly appreciated. The rooftop—forget about it—is a notable highlight, offering a well-designed pool area with excellent views and a comfortable space to relax. The location is another strong advantage—close to 5th Avenue and nearby nightlife. As expected with this level of proximity, some noise may be noticeable on busier nights. Overall, guests can expect clean accommodations, punctual service, and consistently high-quality attention to detail. The hotel is fortunate to have such a strong and capable team. Highly recommended.

The location, staff and cleanliness of this property was excellent! The only complaint that myself and my party had was the mattress and futon was absolutely terrible, both were very hard and difficult to sleep on. Despite that, we were all very pleased with this place and will be back.

Location location location!!! This hotel is located perfectly on 5th ave surrounded by lots of great restaurants and bars. The hotel was very clean and everyone I encountered at the front desk was extremely nice. If you’re in Playa this hotel is a great pick!!!

Hidden Gem

A hidden gem in the less busy section off right off Fifth avenue but a close walk to everything. A little loud from the bar around the corner on 5th avenue but I imagine a huge improvement over any other place near 5 minutes from the beach. Looks exactly like the pictures.

I stayed in many places in Playa and this was my absolute favorite. Fernanda, Armando and the other lady I forgot her name gave exceptional service. The best part is the location. Right on 5th avenue and walking distance to everything cool. When I return to Playa there’s no question about where I’ll be staying!

This is a beautiful property, especially the rooftoop terrace. The hotel is relatively quiet and is very clean. The front desk staff are amazing! They are incredibly friendly and helpful.

A great hotel in a nice location just off of 5th ave where all the restaurants and shopping is. A nice rooftop area with a pool. The staff was always friendly and available. They do have a secure front door. The room was spacious and had a balcony. There was some noise from the street.

A smaller apartment type hotel. A very nice option near 5th Ave and walkable to shops, dining and the beach. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a couple hiccups and the staff was efficient about resolving the issue. Depending on the room, you may hear street notice of barking dog but it’s wasn’t a major concern. All in all - enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Staff was amazing! Everyone was so polite and kind. The room was very large and very clean. The location is perfect for tourists that want to be near 5th Ave. If you are a light sleeper, be aware there is a bar nearby that does live music most nights. It stopped by 12 at the latest. I personally loved hearing them sing and didn’t mind the noise but that is something to be aware of!

The staff are amazing!! Louis (Manager), Erica (am shift) and Bob (pm shift) were super friendly and extremely helpful with all of our questions. The safe in our room didn’t work and the staff had it change within an hour. We were given multiple ideas of where to eat every day, specific sites to visit and even days of the week they were less busy. The cleaning staff were so quiet and conscience of all the other guests, they worked so hard to keep the hotel sparkling clean. Our pre-arranged transport to Cancun was causing us issues and Bob made one phone call and spoke to the company on our behalf…resolved in less than 5 minutes. We love this hotel and would recommend to anyone considering a stay in Playa del Carmen.

Ah Xok is on 5th Ave. so there is noise. But it is on the quiet end so the noise is generally not a problem after around 11pm. We love the area and the proximity to a quiet, undeveloped beach. We like everything about the place -- location, staff, room, balcony, rooftop, etc. -- but for one thing. The adjoining room doors are awful. Neighbors might as well be in your room. Normal conversations can easily be heard through the adjoining doors. We love everything else and would have given 5 stars but for the doors. They should be replaced or, better yet, seal the doorways and get rid of adjoining rooms.

I stayed in a studio at Ah Xok for one month. The concept was spot on. The location was very convenient to 5th Ave North with lots of shops, restaurants and a short walk to the beach, Staff at the suites/hotel were fantastic. A shoutout to Roberto, Luis and Erica who were always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. While the property was very clean and met most of my expectations, I likely wouldn’t stay again unless I was assured that the beds and sofas were upgraded. The bed in my room was hard as a rock and the sides slanted toward the floor. Horribly uncomfortable. The sofa/futon was worse. There wasn’t one iota of comfort. I usually resorted to sitting in a kitchen chair if I wanted to watch TV. Sitting on the sofa was near impossible, which felt like sitting on fabric covered metal slats.

If you like live music this is the hotel for you. The staff were excellent and the room was very clean, it has a kitchenette and equipment. My partner loved the coffee every morning. The downside is the location is very close to a bar that blares their music until midnight, every night. Some of the music is good. If you are used to reading before bed, I suggest earplugs. The tv remote didn’t work unless you were a foot from the tv. The furniture is old but the bed was very comfortable. Linens showed a lot of usage. Shower is small but clean and modern. Personal safety was not an issue, the front door is always locked and manned by the front desk people. There was plenty of police available but we didn’t see and issues when we went out at night. Safety around the roof top pool and breakfast area was an issue. I fell and broke my wrist when moving between the pool and the bathroom. The tile was extremely slippery because of the water from the pool. There was no slip treatment on the tile or runner to absorb the water so it was very slick. No one seemed to make a big deal of my fall except to get a first aid kit and bandage for the small cut on my toe. No one offered to call for medical help or checked to see if I was okay after. It happened the day before we left so I wrapped it and bought a sling. Went to the ER when we arrived at our home airport and had it casted. If we were bigger party people it was perfect for the price and location. Very clean and friendly.
