Mario and Blanco were fantastic hosts from helping us during our very late arrivals, to a wonderful breakfast each morning, helping us with suggestions on where to go in Old Town, making our dinner reservation & transport to the airport. All were perfect! "

"The staff could not have done more for us. From the very beginning they were communicative friendly welcoming and when we arrived they were so warm. It was our honeymoon and they’d put some flowers in the room which was such a nice touch. The location is great, the room lovely (albeit not quite soundproof so bring earplugs!!!) we really loved our stay here thank you "

"The breakfasts were a highlight. We were always asked what time we wanted breakfast and each day we were greeted with a healthy, tasty and Ecuadorian breakfast and fresh juice. The hotel is conveniently located in the historic Old Town but on the outskirts so there is little noise. For us a highlight was being able to watch the New Year's Eve tradition of burning effigies right outside of our window because it is in a residential neighbourhood. "Great location-just 1 block north of Plaza Grande (as hotels.com says but contrary to what Google maps say as of today: and you'll need to tell cabs/ubers/...). My room was quite quiet despite of being right downtown. The people running the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I'd certainly stay at Casa Colonial again."

"This hotel is beautiful. The room was very comfortable, featuring premium sheets and towels. One thing to note is that there is no elevator. This wasn’t an issue for us, but if you have trouble with stairs, be sure to request a ground-floor room."

"Casa San Marcos hotel was amazing! Such beatiful building ( was build in 1702) with all its antiques, arts all over and modern amenities for very special and unique stay. We felt we were staying in a castle two centuries ago though with all the modern day comfort and luxury."

Not walking distance from your typical Holiday Inn and restaurants but closer to the typical Ecuadorian life style and food. Its like a maze inside the hostel with creaking wood floor."
