"Unfortunately, this stay was a huge disappointment. We visit Panama frequently to see family and friends and usually choose El Cangrejo as our favorite neighborhood. Hotel El Principe used to be one of our top choices, but after this experience, that is no longer the case.
The issues began at check-in, which was incredibly slow. However, the real problem started when we finally reached our assigned room: there were already people staying in it. While the staff moved us to another room quickly, it was an alarming breach of privacy and safety.
The 'cherry on top' was the complete lack of building security. After stopping at a nearby shop, we were followed directly into the hotel elevator by individuals who were clearly not guests. We then witnessed them meeting other patrons in the hallways for what appeared to be solicitation or short-term 'visits.'
It is very obvious that the hotel does not monitor who is entering the building or accessing guest floors. As regular travelers to the city, we felt quite unsafe. Between the room assignment error and the 'revolving door' for non-guests, we can no longer recommend this hotel."
