Favorite Hotel

We spent a week exploring the Yucatan peninsula and this was our very favorite hotel! The rooms open right onto the beach and ocean, with lovely porches. Breakfasts, appetizers, and dinners were great at the restaurant. So relaxing and perfect.

This property is right on the beach. Breakfast was really good. Beach is little rocky but beautiful. Bring water shoes. Close by to the activities we had planned, especially close to Cenote Azul. So worked out well location wise.

Peaceful place with amazing staff

My wife and I with our 3 years old stayed here for 5 nights. We had planned to stay here for 3 nights but this place was so peaceful that we extended our stay and skipped our second destination. This is a low key, quiet, and relaxing place with amazing views. The food quality is great and prices are reasonable comparing to other places we have been around here. If you looking for a place to relax, recharge, and avoid the crowds this is it. P.S. the picture is the view from our room.

Beautiful location. Comfortable room, as advertised in pictures. Wonderful community feel. Welcoming and helpful staff. Great snorkeling right off the beach. Only downside was that there was a club nearby that was blasting music at night and we could really feel the bass. Made it hard to fall sleep.

We had a large, comfortable room with a porch from which you stepped literally onto the beach. We enjoyed the small size of the hotel, the well run restaurant where we had most of our meals, and the wonderful staff. We were not interested in excursions around the area, and loved the small beach where we could swim and paddle board. There is a delightful trail leading to other beaches that we walked several times. The hotel sits in the centre of a very small community of expats from around the world. These folks were friendly and welcoming.

I want to give Paamul a score of one because it’s such a beautiful, small & quiet place and I don’t want everyone finding it, however, it’s absolutely amazing. Staff is fantastic (especially Martín!! Francisco and Manuel are great also!). The restaurant has great food, the place is kept clean in all areas (room, restaurant, beach). Loved the palapas, drinks, and everyone is so friendly. The only caveat was the beds are very hard. Next time we’ll bring a mattress pad. This is going to be our “go to” place for all our future trips to the area.

Check-in office staff has weird hours. If you need anything past 5pm you're very much on your own. The hotel staff were wonderful and tried their best despite office staff being absent.

Truly friendly and helpful staff throughout the resort who worked hard to understand my Spanglish. They fought bravely to fight an influx of seaweed that was heavier than typical. No hot shower but warm enough. Room was perfect for our girls trip. Expertly cleaned daily.

Paamul has always been a favorite. We visited in 2023. However, our room AC was not working so this time and we struggled to sleep on our first night. A suggestion tip, if you have any problems with the room you need to get it sorted before 5pm otherwise the front desk closes and you will need to wait until the next day at 9am to get it sorted. We were able to get another room the next day on the upper floor after numerous visits to the front desk during the course of the day. There was no discount offered for the inconvenience. The beach was excellent to swim, the sargassum was a problem for most hotels but not necessarily a problem for paamul. They have one of the best beaches to swim. The food wasn’t bad, it could be improved. Breakfast was free for the most part, they did charge us for simple things like fruit plate or orange juice which I thought wasn’t quite necessary. All in all, a good stay. Not sure if we’ll be back again.

The view from room was “million-dollar”. The room was clean; housekeepers were good. Restaurant food was good but a little pricey. They didn’t always tell us the daily specials so we missed out on a few. I suggest asking if they don’t want to share on menu. Plus there are good desserts which aren’t even mentioned or noted on menu. My biggest complaint which won’t prevent me from visiting again is the lack of communication from front staff. We were never informed of special events (market Thursday, live music nights when a restaurant reservation is advised, good walking areas etc). English seemed challenging for front staff, not for restaurant staff. Security was excellent.
