"The room was beautiful with a patio that overlooked the lush hillside. The dining area was pleasant and the food was good. The onsen, however, could stand some refurbishment. The hotel advertises late checkout but I was told that 11:00 am constitutes late checkout. This seems like a bit of a scam to me. Made my departure more rushed than a I planned for it to be."

"Everything about this place was amazing. Probably one of the highlights of our trip. Beautiful onsen, huge house. The kids really wanted a traditional stay. The entire Izu peninsula was a great place to explore and have a couple quieter days between big cities. "

"The facilities were dated, which I knew going in. But I wasn’t prepared for the level of decline: none of the restaurants/bars were open (permanently, it seems), the front desk was hardly staffed, the lobby wasn’t an inviting place to spend time.     "The rooms are absolutely amazing and unbelievably beautiful. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was very nice and traditional. They also provided traditional robes, socks, and sandals to wear to breakfast. There is not a lot of dining options around or much to do. If you have time, take a taxi to the bel-air park. I will definitely visit again. "
