"The facilities were dated, which I knew going in. But I wasn’t prepared for the level of decline: none of the restaurants/bars were open (permanently, it seems), the front desk was hardly staffed, the lobby wasn’t an inviting place to spend time. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the onsen (hot spring bath). But no meals was unexpected & a bit inconvenient. My reservation supposedly included breakfast, but I was told “no food” by the front desk (and I do speak Japanese, confirmed the...

"What a decadent experience in low-key, authentic Japanese style. Not a detail was spared in the gorgeous historic building and lush forest grounds. The several course meals were outstanding, served in our private dining room and the staff was beyond helpful and gracious. The multiple onsens on property were beautiful and healing, you can even reserve one for an hour of private use. To get there, board a shinkansen and get off at the train station that is about 25 minutes away from the hotel and...

"Absolutely stunning view of Mt Fuji in a beautiful hotel. The rooms were so clean and the staff was very kind and attentive. The girl at the front desk spoke very good English making it even easier to get help and service.
The onsen was so relaxing with a nuts view of Fuji. "

My financé proposed to me on the last night in the private dining room in the old tea house. It will be a place that will forever stay in our hearts. "It was an incredible experience. Traditional Japanese room, very clean with a view to the mountains. The staff were extremely kind and polite and the buffet food was great. The hotel is also located very close to the main attractions in Shuzenji so everything is walking distance. Also very close to amazing cafes and restaurants like honohono cafe. You can also take a bus and go to Mihama Beach to see Mt Fuji! Would come here again, 10/10. "
"The rooms are absolutely amazing and unbelievably beautiful. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was very nice and traditional. They also provided traditional robes, socks, and sandals to wear to breakfast. There is not a lot of dining options around or much to do. If you have time, take a taxi to the bel-air park. I will definitely visit again. "
"Everything about this place was amazing. Probably one of the highlights of our trip.
Beautiful onsen, huge house.
The kids really wanted a traditional stay.
The entire Izu peninsula was a great place to explore and have a couple quieter days between big cities. "
"Tu en room was absolutely stunning with the private hot tub.
Don’t bother eating there though. It s a waste of your money.
The shuttle was very convenient to get to the train station and visit."
