About Neihu
The district of Neihu is located in the eastern area of Taipei, and has become famous for its progressive IT industry. It is also the main place for superb hiking and temple exploration. Neihu is one of the most important commercial districts in Taipei too as the district houses a wide range of shopping complexes that are always full of locals and tourists.
Don’t MissBishan Temple is one of Taipei’s most interesting attractions. This Taoist temple is the largest of its kind in Taiwan. It is situated on the side of a mountain immediately northwest of Taipei, and gives tremendous views of the surrounding area on a clear day. More adventurous tourists can even spend the night at the temple, provided they give the complex a donation.
The northern areas of Neihu are very popular for hiking. The region surrounding the Bishan Temple has a network of trekking paths that take hikers through thick mountainous terrain. Plenty of hidden temples, shrines and ancient structures can be uncovered along the way.
Restaurants and BarsNeihu is not short on food options. There is a large range of cuisines on offer here, from traditional Cantonese restaurants through to Western fast-food options. The large department stores, like Lakeshore and Miramar, have an assortment of dining options. Of course, one of the cheapest and best places to enjoy an evening meal is the 737 Street Market. Nightlife is mostly limited to evening shopping. However, there are several quiet bars located in Neihu that serve alcoholic beverages and pub fare.
ShoppingBoth modern and cultural shopping experiences are available at Neihu. Arguably the most popular shopping centre in the district is Lakeshore Mall, which is commonly referred to as AKA De-An. It is just steps from Neihu Station, and offers eight floors of retail outlets. The 737 Street Market is another favourite among tourists and locals. It is always crowded, but a must-try experience, especially for the huge number of food stalls offering all kinds of tasty treats.
