"The place is in a safe area a little outside of the main town. The cabins are super cute and very clean. There is a main gate locks and it felt very secure. The walk up the path was tough with luggage ! This was my only complaint, but it was a great work out at the same time. Easy for backpackers but not a single lady with larger luggage. "

"The spot is pretty much in the center of San Pedro, so it is very conveniently located. The hotel doesn't really offer much but if you're just looking for a place to crash the night in, it is a good option. Shower was surprisingly good but the rooms overall were mediocre. The owner is a nice guy and I would recommend this place for anyone just passing by and needed somewhere to stay over at for a few days. "

"Fantastic place! We stayed for two weeks while my daughter was volunteering nearby. Comfortable, clean, excellent food and they went above and beyond to take care of anything we needed. "

"Staff was very nice and hard working. Breakfast was really good included with price of room but you can add to it for additional cost. It was well cooked. Very nice view. It seems they are renovating and expanding hotel. No AC or tv but the view was amazing "

"Room was small, but cheap and adequate. I used the bench outside my room to ponder, plan, read, surf and enjoy the flora. The grounds are a great garden. The staff, Cecilia and Joaquin, are wonderful. There is a bar/restaurant across the path, El Barrio, I highly recommend."
"I wish I could rate this higher than 5 stars.
The location is beautiful. Breathtaking views. I prefer a more laid back and quiet vibe. Kula Maya and the town of San Marcos provided that. But when my group and I wanted to have more of an outing, San Pedro was a short ferry ride away. It felt so remote and convenient all at the same time.
On top of that, one of the members in our group suffered from appendicitis in the middle of the night on our first night's stay here. We were so scared and the night security guard went out of his way to find us a tuk tuk driver to drive us to the hospital in San Pedro. Following the initial emergency, all the staff at Kula Maya were so attentive to our needs. They were ready to arrange transport for us at a moments notice. I cannot say enough positive things about Kula Maya. Just book your stay here, I promise you won't regret it. It was better than anything we could have imagined.
Thank you for a memorable stay Kula Maya! We love you!"
"Great location. Good views of Lake Atitlan from the porch. Very secure location. Hostess was most responsive. There is a fully equipped kitchen. Remember to bring basic ingredients and groceries. Most of it is available at small street side stores five minutes from the house. Tuc tucs are readily available to travel into town or to local restaurants. There’s an Italian bistro within five minutes but it was closed Monday and Tuesday.
One issue is a steep walk and three flights of stairs to reach the apartment. If you’re carrying luggage it can be a little difficult. The caretaker was helpful and immediately assisted with the luggage. It’s best to have one person remain at the street level with the luggage while the other goes up to the entry door and rings the bell. The caretaker who opens yhe door will help with the luggage if requested. Overall a very positive experience. The shower was exceptional and there’s hot water. There’s a hammock on the porch and gardens to walk around. "
"very peaceful place to stay in, it truly feels magical, i have no complaints. the staff was very friendly, attentive and accommodating which i really appreciated. the breakfast was super yummy and light, so good for your digestion. i would definitely book and stay here again, thank you for making this stay unique! "
"A charming little place with a welcoming staff, sweet cats on the property, and a gorgeous view of the lake. Nothing too fancy, but definitely more than you’d expect for the price."
